    Strikeout, 1-2-3 putout

Sorry for all the misunderstanding, as I messed up the thread title.

Here's how it happened: I (the pitcher), threw a curveball to a batter. He swings and strikes out, however the ball is dropped. The deflection kicked out to me off of the catcher, so I scuttled over and threw him out at first. Thus, the scoring would be, K, 2-1-3, not 1-2-3 as mistakenly written. I was wondering if anybody else has seen this, to get a sense of it's rarity.

Kris Bryant doesn't hit homeruns, he destroys pitcher's dreams. #Bryantwatch

That is actually scores Strikeout (K 2-3) 1 is not included in the play for pitching the ball. It isn't all that rare either.

Maybe they should incorporate it into the game so it happens more often. 2-3 times every inning is just not enough.

You're getting 2-3 K's per inning on balls in the dirt? I'd say that's way more than enough.

Sarcasm! I think that was also the OP meaning.

Ok now that, is pretty rare, for the pitcher to field a dropped 3rd strike blocked by the catcher. A K (2-1-3) would be pretty damn rare.

I had a similar play last night but as the batter and ended up safe at first. I swung and missed but the ball deflected off the catcher and up the first baseline rather than back to the pitch. The first baseman had to field it in foul territory as my batter ran pass him with nobody covering the bag. I was a little confused initially on the play because the way the ball come out after my swing made it look like a foul ball but it was ruled a strikeout and dropped ball.

FWIW, I'm terrible at hitting and I've been struck out on many pitches so bad they were dropped by the catcher and I've only seen anything like this happen once. Every other time the catcher either easily throws me out or the ball goes to the backstop and my runner is safe.
