1- If a players attitude toward signing/re-signing with you is effected. There is something in the game for this...I just don't know if the rebuilding/push/neutral mode effects it

2- If teams are making offers to you based on which mode you are in. I'm not sure if this makes a difference with that.

Perhaps tabarnes knows this.....he's been a bit busy....he and his wife just had another baby!(CONGRATS TIM! )

Thank you....and yes it has been crazy. Having three kids and two under 21 months has been more challenging than I have ever thought.

The things I have noticed with the team strategies.

    1. In the offseason if you are in rebuild mode, it is very difficult to get players to sign with you, even current players. Your team budget also affects this. A player requires much more to sign with the Yankees than the cubs. The Yankees offer of $40 million a year may be $20 million for another team. I'm not sure if that is one way the team tried to eat up additional payroll?

    2. I find that the CPU offers more trades for my vets in rebuild, and it may be in my head, but I find it harder to trade for a vet if my team is in rebuild.

On another note, it drives me crazy when a message that one of the teams cannot afford the trade with both teams are under by $10 million.

This thread will be very helpful, thanks.

Not sure if this is a good spot for this..but I would like to see NRIs in Mlb the Show, then I might actually play spring training.

Anyways, again this will be very helpful in my franchise
      Chicago Cubs
      Michigan Wolverines

      Thanks Peyton. #18

So what you're suggesting is playing with Ignore Budgets?

I play with budgets on. If the cpu initiates the trade you can even go over budget.

How do I stop the CPU from automatically calling my minor league players up in September. I already have option set to manual.

I don't want done of my top prospects to be called up and waste their service time. Plus im in the hunt for the last wild card, and content with my roster now.

Are these prospects you mention on your 40 man roster?

Yes, mostly because the were called up during spring training.

Right now there is no way to designate specifically who will get the September call ups. Everyone on the 40 man roster, unless his team is involved in the minor league playoffs is called up automatically.

So, this has always bugged me, I HAVE to use one of the player's 3 options, whether I want to or not, because the game automatically brings my top prospects up to the majors in September and during Spring Training, correct?

This thread will be very helpful. The off season is very confusing, and it always takes me a few times to get the budgets and signings right.

Players on your 40 man roster are automatically put on the MLB roster for spring training and in September when the rosters expand

Can you explain when you would offer arbitration? I understand mainly everything else but not sure who this would be offered to

You'd offer this to a young player who has 3-6 years of time in the bigs and doesn't want to sign a long term deal.

I'd offer this to someone like Eric Hosmer in my Royals franchise because he's stated (Well, Scott Boras stated) he doesn't want to sign a long term deal. I haven't gotten this far in my franchise, but in real life you can still negotiate with a player up until the arbitration hearing date to get a deal done.

Here's a scenario: Let's say Hosmer wants $5.5 million and you're only willing to give up $3.75 million for that one season.

You offer a halfway amount to settle, but Hosmer and Boras refuse because they believe Hos is worth more.

Then the case heads to arbitration in Feb and a middle party decides what to pay the player.

Just this past offseason Andrew Cashner went to arb with the Padres and won. He wanted $2.4 mil but the Padres offered $2.25 million. The judge awarded him the amount he wanted.
