Swing and a miss... in the draft.
I'm sure with either generated counts or simply by simulating some of your games a few of you guys have made it into multiple offseasons. I'm curious for those who know, when drafting A potential prospects do any of them turn out to be busts? That's something I know we've been asking for for many years. And likewise, are there some gems to be found late in the draft?Tags: None -
Re: Swing and a miss... in the draft.
ive drafted a 90 pot C in the 5th round, but he was projected to come to the mlb in like 2022 so i never got to see him -
Re: Swing and a miss... in the draft.
I drafted an A potential 1B in 2020 and i'm in 2025 now and his potential has dropped to C. He's been terrible, even simming some series which i do. Complete bust.Comment

Re: Swing and a miss... in the draft.
I drafted a 3rd rounder who had a C potential when I got him at age 18. By the end of his 2nd season he was an 85 (at age 19) and went 10-1 with my MLB team.Comment

Re: Swing and a miss... in the draft.
I think the big thing with potential is not only the accuracy of your scouts, but how well they perform in MiLB and how effective you manage them throughout each league. You don't want to call them up too early if they have high potential. Let them set in A ball for 2 years if they are only a 60 overall....and vice versa if they have low potential with a high overall/ETA.
Also it is best to get guys that have good "stuff" like velocity and break then train their per nines. From my experience their per nines can improve more easily than their velocity or break.Comment

I had 2 SPs, both with 86 potential to start the season and both exactly 60 overall and 20 years old. They were placed in double A. One pitched great the entire season and the other did not. The one who did good went up to a 68 and the one who did bad went up to a 64Comment

All of this sounds good. Pretty cool that there's busts and late-round gems.Comment

Re: Swing and a miss... in the draft.
Not only that the best thing is that potential is dynamic. A guy playing great for a season or two can improve his potential.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives
