    Does weather even matter?

I've played a ton of games in about 6 seasons right now (not counting simming) and I've never seen the weather affect players or the game for that matter. Clear skies and 80-90 degrees, nope doesn't do anything.

Rain? Just for show. Haven't seen any rain delays. Not sure why this isn't in the game.

Has anyone seen any weather affecting players or any rain delays?

Rain Delays aren't in the game as far as I know. I do think the rain is purely cosmetic. I haven't really noticed any difference as players being slower on basepaths, outfielders being cautious while running to make play to avoid falling, etc...

      Re: Does weather even matter?

Couple of years ago rain delays were in the game, not sure why they were taken out.

I have not noticed any impact that weather has on the game, but if it does impact the game in anyway my guess would be that it affects hit balls, i.e. ball carrying further in certain weather.

I haven't payed close enough attention to notice any trends though

Weather is cosmetic only. There are no rain delays or rain outs. Hopefully in future versions.

Yea I haven't seen any type of effect due to weather. I was also wondering cause when I played in Coors Field the ballpark seemed to play big which is not realistic. Balls should carry a lot more there!

Yeah, parks don't really play different beyond physical dimensions.

Would love for actual park effects to be in, especially those based on the location (mile high, San Fran's marine air, high/low temps or day/night differences, etc).

Rain delays have NEVER been in the Show to my knowledge. And we've been asking for it for several years.

From my experience rain provides a higher speed of wind which does in fact have an effect. It could just be a coincidence that higher wind days happen on rain days but that's just my experience with it.

Ah, I must be thinking of High Heat then. Or 2k...can't remember which.

But aside from having an effect on gameplay, I would also love to see dynamic weather where it changes over the course of the game. Be cool to see storm clouds moving in

2k had it near perfect and nearly 6+ years ago. They had dynamic weather where it would vary in terms of amount, as well as having rain delays and rainouts. In 2014 where so many games are rained out and teams are in climates that vary from April to October there is little excuse, in my mind, to not have weather elements fully featured in any sports game that is outdoors.

I don't have time to look it up but I remember a dev saying rain does not affect the game. Hot/cold, night/day I don't know.

Coors does play different than other stadiums. Ramone or one of the other devs has said so.

Haven't seen a rain delay, but I played a game at Safeco Field and it looked amazing. I can see why Ramone and the team are casting more focus on lighting... when it's right, the game looks gorgeous.

2K put it in one year, but there was a glitch where if a game was postponed it wouldn't be properly rescheduled for a later date. You would get back to the main menu and it would be as if the rained out game never happened and you just re-play the game the same day. It was weird and all glitched. So they took it out with a patch.

It has never been in The Show.

Apparently programming rain delays and cancellations is just wayyyyyy to complicated for any baseball game designer too accomplish. It's right up there in difficulty with curing cancer. Almost impossible.
