I always recreate a beastly pitcher named Jason Smith that was a computer generated rookie I drafted years ago in The Show. That franchise I got to the 5th season (mostly simmed but played the entire 5th season) and he was a 97 ovr monster. I went something like 26-4 with a low 2 ERA. I recreate him similar to how he was his rookie season (~82ish) and wait for him to develop back into beast mode. To be fair I always edit an already existing A potential player (preferably a SP) on the Orioles roster though.
My team is not the only team I do this for. In that same old franchise (think it was 07 or 08) the Mariners had an awesome outfield. One guy was a 91 hitting machine, the other guy was a mid to low 80's reincarnation of Kenny Loften, plus they had Ichiro still.
The 91 guy (coincidentally named Adam Jones) was not THAT great but man he killed me. Played them in that ALCS and he batted over .500 and stole bases left and right. Now that Ichiro is no longer in Seattle I recreate him as a god with the bat with Ricky Henderson stealing ability (because he played like that against me!).
The Lofton clone gets reborn every year primarily for his penchant of robbing homers and hits that year. Oddly enough in my current franchise they traded him to the Braves. But like with my player I create them as they were as a rookie or close to.
Anyway there are others and I was just wondering if anyone else did this?
Glad with year to year saves my merry band of fictional players can live on
