Re: Statistics You Need Tracked Not Already Being Done

The sad thing about all of this. They used to track stats for the Show in previous versions. When they actually had the TOPPS baseball card. I recalled 2B and 3B on that card. I think they changed it to the wide screen player card in 12' version of the Show. SMH!

i want the pitcher vs batter dynamic stats/gameplay

i want to know if my guy is only 1-15 in his career against a guy (then i want that to give the pitcher a slight advantage like 2k had)

All I want is pitcher vs. Batter head to head stats. That would make franchise mode so much deeper for me.

Agreed! This is one thing I always hope for at the start of each year and am dissapointed to see it's not there. That and rain delays forcing you to take out your starter after 2 innings if it's a long delay.

I know this isn't really part of the thread but I want fastball/breakingball attributes for contact/power. When I use Gose and he rips a curveball for a single I cringe, he should swing about 3 feet over top of the ball.

In Diamond Dynasty mode, I'd like to see my expired players' stats preserved in some sort of statistical archive. Except for the rare "Hall of Fame" player, your old players poof and leave no trace of themselves.

Re: Statistics You Need Tracked Not Already Being Done

Stat-tracking really needs to be everything you can get from Fangraphs.com and it needs to be sortable on a game, week, month, year, and career basis.

They were able to include minimally useful stats like HEQ-Q, SLOB, POP etc....I don't see why more useful advanced stats like BABIP for hitters, WAR, oWAR, dWAR, UZR, OPS+, ERA+, wRC+, runners stranded/runners inherited, season to-date pitch totals etc. can't be tracked instead. And when going to press triangle on a player to see his vitals, there needs to be an actual card that shows all of these and can be sorted as suggested above.

Re: Statistics You Need Tracked Not Already Being Done

First of all, great discussion on stats guys and lets hope someday we can see a big improvement in this area.

I would like to see a boxscore similar to what you see at MLB.com. I like to know the pitch counts (balls and strikes) of each pitcher used. Not just after the game, but being able to go back and look at previous boxscores for relevant stats.

A good boxscore will produce 'the game' in numbers, like the gamelog should.

I know it has been said already but worth mentioning again. More stats that carry over year to year. OBP, SB, BA vs R/L, WHIP, IP and much, much, more.

They need to sign a deal with fangraphs or something. I want to see everything tracked....

I know there are some sabermetrics in the game, but they need to carry over!

Oh and let me add FIP, xFIP, groundball rate, flyball rate, linedrive rate all for pitchers to my list. BB/9 would also be nice.

Could not agree more. What's even more baffling is some of the SABR and other stuff that they included. Let me list stats that I feel could be gotten rid of to make space for new ones...

Secondary average, BOP, T AVG, POP, SLOB, TPQ, HEQ-O, Power Speed #, PWR FACT for hitters and PFR for pitchers.

There is some good stuff in there, but why they picked some of these over hitter BABIP, WAR, and the "+" stats is a little confusing. Is it a PS4 limitation thing and some of the ones they added are more easily calculable?

One last thing...how cool would in-game ZiPS or Steamer projections be for guys on your team? Then the game could compare performance vs preseason projections to determine player progression.

That projection idea actually sounds really good, I didn't even think about that but it could be player rating based and you could see how players over or under performed, maybe they could even hide the ratings as a game option on franchise and you'd have to rely on projections and scouting alone.

I never use the hot/cold zone, I can't stand visual aids while I'm playing, but pre-game or anytime I'm evaluating my own team, I'd like to be able to check this. These are the kind of small things that would add so much, sometimes. It would also be a point that can improve commentary, because it programs something more for them to talk about.

Commentary is also rushed because the pace of gameplay is so rapid, but I hope increased, more concentrated stat overlays and expanded commentary can also help to slow the game down to it's proper pace.
Strongly agree with your observations legendm0de. Every year I keep hoping the fantastic SCEA team will give the stat guys a bone to chew on.

I wanna be able to see every individual player's game log so I can quickly see how a player is doing that series, week, last 10 games, etc. Just take the RTTS log and apply it to franchise mode.
