Less variety in animations for batters between pitchers compared to last gen?

I mentioned it on another post ,but I don't see the players doing their routines between pitches on the ps4 version, they instantly go back into the batting stance after 2 seconds. No longer adjusting gloves, getting out of the batting box and spitting, kicking the dirt, etc, none of that for ps4? It's just a little nitpick, I usually like to speed up anyway, but just something I noticed.

I think they said before release, they added something like if there is no commentary happening then it will just skip ahead to the next pitch in order to avoid too much silence. I'm fairly certain i saw that mentioned.

      So that's probably what's happening.

I've honestly not paid much attention. The game goes to various cutscenes that fill the void.

Its been mentioned in other threads to do with slow mode being removed/game speed to fast. a lot of scenes are cut short, even when matt is speaking in between/end of innings he gets cut off.

Well last night a batter did tie his shoes before stepping into the batters box

We can still say the ps3 has more animations correct?

they apparently want emphasis on making the game faster (dont get me started)

What is hard for me to understand is that fast mode, quick counts, sim ahead or simply press a button to end animations is available. Why take out slow mode?

All sport games have the option to play out to the maximum, no matter the sport, even games like football can be played to the distance. Racing games go full distances and have 60 minute practices, NBA games don't skip any animations during a freethrow routine, there would be a mutiny by that community if they ever did. NHL, Madden, Golf, all allow you to go full distances. This version so far, strips the pitch by pitch routine, it's just catered to shelling pitch after pitch after pitch so you can be done with your inning and end your game within an hour..

I completely agree. I don't understand why with Fast Forwarding, FastPlay, Generated Counts, Player Lock (which might only let you factor into 10 plays in a game), Reduced Innings, and simply using the X button to skip anytime you wish, they emphasize taking away even the Normal level of pace for this game. If anything they should be implementing the exact same level of effort to catering to long game players who play and want to enjoy and observe each artistic element you've created for your game.

It is more than a little perplexing why almost every animation is cut so abruptly.

The point above is something I hadn't considered before. I guess The Show is actually the least realistic sports game in this regard and it's a real shame considering it's the most realistic in just about everything else.

This is a well thought out, and well written post. I too am disappointed about this. I loved the fact pre-batting routines were brought back into 13 (as in 12 they were cut out) and now again most of them are gone. I still get them here and there. But nothing like on 11 and 13. I don't understand how they removed features when there are so many fast play options for casual gamer's or gamer's who want to skip through that.

That coupled with the HR Cam and the blue ring with auto fielding and manual throwing were mind boggling design choices that I hope and pray are correct for 15. Other than that though, the game is the best of it's kind. Are there some quirks? Yes. Check Swings feel wonky this year. They really do. I see barely any swing, clearly never breaking the wrists on clear balls...and strikes are called. It's annoying this year. That is why for me personally my batting average is down from years past. I can't check swing as effectively as in years past.

I really hope they read and respond to a lot of the little quirks 14 has. And really knock it out of the park with 15.

Still...14 is a great great game.

Thanks guys for well thought out replies concerning 'slow mode' and other tweaks for MLBTS, I hope SCEA will revisit some of the gameplay features that have been changed or omitted this year.
