    Is more or less better?

all pitchers have per 9 ratings... but they've always confused me. for example, my pitcher has:

H/9 = 72 (does this mean he gives up hits at a 72 rating OR he's rated 72 at NOT giving up hits?)
K/9 = 65 (this seems obvious. he is a 62 at getting strikeouts)
BB/9 = 65 (is he a 65 at giving up walks OR a 65 at avoiding giving up walks?)
HH/9 = 60 (is he a 60 at giving up the long ball or conversely, a 60 at not allowing big hits for HR's)

i've always been a little confused here. and forgive me if this ha been asked/answered. i'm just not sure on some of these ratings is more or less better.

    thanks in advance.

    MLB - NATIONALS

Higher is better. But a high Curveball speed equals less speed I believe..
