    Pitcher splits

I was curious to know why hitters have split attributes, but pitchers do not. Was this ever in The Show? I find this to be a serious part of baseball that is missing from the game. This kind of disappoints me.

I didn't have a PS3, so I never played the previous titles, but they had this in the 2k series. Don't get me wrong, I love this game so much more than 2k, but that's one thing that the 2k series had that I enjoyed. I could be wrong and I am missing something.

Lack of stat tracking has definitely been an ongoing issue with The Show for years. Not only splits, but an absence of career stat tracking beyond a few basic categories in franchise mode absolutely kills any immersion factor for me and I would assume others as well. I was hoping this would be tended to with the power of newer generation consoles, but considering this year is almost a complete port maybe next year it will be worked on.

What's interesting is - at least in manage mode - the attributes for the batter are displayed as an average of vs lhp and rhp for both contact and power. If a pitcher is right handed and the batter has contact 90 rhp and 50 lhp his contact will be displayed as 70, not 90.

I'm guessing the AI calculates vs rhp and lhp depending on handedness of the pitcher but the display indicates otherwise.

Pitcher splits aren't really necessary, in real life splits are determined by the pitcher's repertoire. Now what needs to happen (if it doesn't already) is for the sim engine to incorporate that fact, so fastball/slider pitchers (aka the majority of relievers) are prone to splits.

I don't think that it true at all. Splits are important in baseball. I think it comes down to more than repertoire. Starting pitchers can have big splits too and they have multiple pitch types. Pitch type may be a part of it, but its certainly not the entire thing.
