Re: Franchise carryover
Re: Franchise carryover
I'm wondering about year-to-year transfers and how it will work that players that retire. Has there been any word on this?
For example, this is Derek Jeter's final year but in some people's franchise I suppose it's possible for him to stick around after 2014 (if not him there will be others that retire in real life but continue in the show, so don't miss the point here). But since he's not playing and therefore no longer in the MLBPA how could he be included in the game in MLB 15? I'm curious how this will be handled.Comment

Assuming the save you will be transfering to the next version will have the roster your franchise is using included.
So doesn't matter what the new games roster looks like.
..If I'm understanding you correctly AND if I'm correct in my assumption.Joshua:

Re: Franchise carryover
From everything I read and would understand its not that complicated. (its is but not as complicated as people want to make it, technically as in programming im sure it is)
It will take the values (the names, the faces, stats ect) from your saved version of the game and port them over to the new game...probably very similar to how it does it from PS3 to vita to ps4.
Theres no issue with the "new" game having non MLBPA players because its not coming pre-loaded with those players, but having them ported in. just like your old games still have all those players from that era..they dont just disappear when you put that disc back in...those players may no longer be in the MLBPA but they dont get wiped off your old game when you play an old version.
I assume the new versions wont have a million and one rosters in its database or anything crazy..just able to copy the values from previous games to recreate your past roster save and stats.Comment

Re: Franchise carryover
Well, I'm just saying that we would be using a player's name and likeness without their "permission" on the new game if they are retired and no longer a member of the MLBPA. I don't really understand the legality of this and to be honest I kind of feel like it's an entirely new and unexplored area. If someone really wanted to be a jerk about it I'm sure they could raise a fuss. e.i. Ed O'Bannon. I doubt it will be an issue but it's something to consider, which I'm sure SCEA has already done.Comment

Re: Franchise carryover
From what some of the community guys have said and things that have been hinted is that the new game wont come with those players that arent in the agreement but it would be no different than creating them yourself and using them as the OSFM do now with players. SCEA isnt using their likeness in the shipped game. It simply allows for old rosters to be carried over. I dont see the issue.Well, I'm just saying that we would be using a player's name and likeness without their "permission" on the new game if they are retired and no longer a member of the MLBPA.
