    Defensive Shift

Is the lefty shift that defenses do against pull hitters a dynamic thing?
Meaning...if I get my timing down and am going to left field for singles and doubles everytime, will defenses eventually stop shifting on my batter?

It is not dynamic, they will always set up for the extreme shift.

Bummer....it would be awesome if they would adapt to your hitting patterns...and on the flip side, eventually doing a shift for players who start becoming strictly pull hitters

Well, what's exciting is that we are only in Year One of this generation...I'm sure that will be on the horizon over time

Once the Show has dynamic spray charts, I could easily see the defense adjusting accordingly.

I wish that an icon or notification would appear on the screen somewhere at the beginning of an AB that has a dramatic shift involved...

I wouldn't make the mistake of pitching that batter outside and ending up giving up a double hit to the opposite field nearly as often...

I'm looking at YOU Adrian Gonzalez!

I agree. I usually shift every time against a pull hitter, but not having a way to quickly glance is kind of annoying. You have to push several buttons through the quick menus just to look at your defense. Easy enough, but for an entire 9 innings, the time adds up.

Every time when an extreme pull hitter of mine is at bat with no one on base, the camera zooms and show the over shift. Also the booth acknowledges as well.

I always click R3 and take a peak on what is going on in the field. Though a quick visual indication would be a nice touch.

I would love dynamic spray charts n shifts!!! But no way not now, need to clean up a few of the other misguided AI first.

                      Re: Defensive Shift

Dynamic spray chart would be nice, but I would also like a more flexible way of shifting fielders to arbitrary positions.

One thing that is strikingly different in MLB these days compared to even a few years back is that teams are employing very liberal position shifts now that they have the batted-ball tracking system in place.

I think this has and will change the game of baseball quite a bit (e.g., extreme pull hitters start trying bunting or spraying hits to the opposite field), so I wish The Show also incorporates this into the game.

I've been doing this more and more with my shifts. Sometimes, if I'm playing a strong pull shift on a LH hitter, I'll shift the 3B to a shift right, instead of extreme right, to have him play more in the 5/6 hole rather than normal SS position.

I've really enjoyed playing around with shifts this year. I barely touched it in years past, but it's been fun employing them more liberally and seeing them pan out (or giving up hits that would've been outs normally at times).

                          Re: Defensive Shift

Another key to the shifts is how you pitch them. If you have a heavy pull shift on Ortiz and pitch him away...don't expect him to hit right into your shift. However if you pitch inside and he gets jammed, I'd assume you'll still the out most of the time. Don't pitch away and expect him to easily roll over.
