Is there a way to skip a day in rotation?

The Rotation thing needs to be fixed. there has to be a way you can skip someone in the rotation, but the game keeps that rotation day in it's 'memory' because in the playoffs even after a days rest the person in slot 1 should be starting game 1 of the next game, but the game will always have it the next person on the rotation. the 5th starter hardly ever pitches in the playoffs. I guess you could move them to the BP

For example the first 2 games on the calender are D backa snd Dodgers, because of the weeks rest Kewshaw should have been starting opening day March 31, but the game says its Ryu 3rd starter. if you decide to choose Kewshaw for opening day march 31, the next day the game thinks then its the person in the 5th slot that starts the next day, so then it thinks Kewshaw will start again on the 3rd day it doesn't reset the rotation. can be frustrating. and you forget somtimes and start a tired player.

I can think of one way to get around it throw everyone in the BP but your starter, but as soon as you move them back after the game, it still thinks it's that day in the rotation.

    Any ideas?

Re: Is there a way to skip a day in rotation?

I can't even remember the last time I made the playoffs (life as a Mets user), so I don't have too much experience with this issue... but I have run into it at least a couple times.

For me it's come up against a division rival, during the season. I'll have a day off, then an important game against the Braves, and my #5 pitcher will be due to pitch. But since I had a day off, the #1 would be on normal rest, so I prefer to skip the 5 and maximize my win chances.

But that just leads to a nightmare where my rotation is off until I purposely skip more starters later in the season.

However, I know starting last year (or maybe 2012? again, I know not the playoffs), you are no longer required to have all 5 SP spots in the rotation full, so... if you don't plan on starting with the guy, try just leaving him out of the rotation for good.

Try all but your 1-3 pitchers and see if it lets you just continue playing with only 3 starters. I'm pretty sure it will work.

Re: Is there a way to skip a day in rotation?

the problem is as soon on day off I move the number 5 to the BP skip the day off, as soon as I move the number 5 pitcher back after the skipped day off it straight away thinks it is day 5 again, not day 1.

I guess I can try this. on off day move no 5 to BP, next day play as no 1 2 3 4, then move the 5 back. but I bet the game would then think it's day 4 again and try to start my no 4 pitcher that just played the the previous day!

This also won't help CPU teams as the CPU will try and use those guys moved to the BP.

But why are you moving the 5 back to the rotation? My suggestion is to leave him in the bullpen permanently. If you are planning on taking a 4 man rotation through the playoffs, you don't need a 5th man at all.

Yeah that will work for playoffs but I was more refering to what happens in the season and for CPU teams that would be a problem for

in RTTS you can get premoted from being a 5th starter to 1st with 2 days rest

Can you just manually modify the rotation in the personnel screen? Or perhaps you are talking about CPU-controlled team...

Ah, got ya. Thought we were talking strictly playoffs.

Yeah but that's not ideal either because then you're running half the season with some scrub disguised as your "#1 starter"
And the announcers say stuff based on this placement... I don't know what I'd do if I heard the announcers talking about Bartolo Colon as the ace of my staff.

Ive had Bruce Chen as my #1 plenty of times and never heard them refer to him or anyone fir that matter as the ace. It could also be that i just dont care what the announcers have to say. Its a game.

It would matter for CPU though, because they would take their 5 starter as a no 1 if you did it that way. the AI is programmed to do things at all the same time.

there are times the CPU will always bring out the closer even if he has pitched the last 4 days and I know he is going to blow the save because his enegy is almost at 0 rather then pick a SU for the save, it's just the way the AI programs it in unless you pyschically spoon feed the CPU and move their closer to the LR and move another guy to CP just for that game it will always pick your closer (well if the starter lets in 5 runs in 1 innings the CPU will bring in your closer because he is now LR though so your screwed either way )

You can leave the 5th spot in the rotation open and they'll only use a 4 man rotation.

WARNING: If you sim for long periods of time fatigue is a factor, and I've found this regardless of the bullpen quantity I have, maybe need to try tweaking 'pulling starters' slider - but you'll get 40 starts per starter that way...but even with the Dodgers, I've done it 3 times and Kershaw has never gotten below 3.50 ERA doing so.

I went with a 4 man rotation 90% of the time my first season.

You mentioned 90% of the time...did you see like a group of games and decide to switch to 5-man? Or was there some strategy you employed?

Royals have a decent pitching staff...but would think the Dodgers (Kershaw, Greinke, Ryu especially) would have been able to get similar results as you did.

Though I just set it at 4-man and let it go each time.

I didn't know you could have a 4-man rotation. Thought the game would "force" you to put 5-men in there.

Totally going to do that in my fantasy draft franchise. Try to get me a bunch of 90 STA starters and go 4-man.
