Players retiring too young

Anyone else have a problem in their franchises/roads to the show with players retiring way too young? For example, Ive seen jose bautista and mike napoli both in my franchises retire at 34. And napoli was still like an 80 overall. What the hell? Is there any way to work around this? Really kills roads to the show and franchises imo. Also, too many players retiring from injuries as well. I know that it is tough come back from a torn achilles, but players have come back from, especially star players, or at least they can. if anything they need to lower the overall of these players and not just have them retire imo.

You can create a save before you advance to the off-season, then check the retired players and jot down the ones you don't like once you advance. Re-load your save, then maybe raising their ratings a bit will keep them from retiring. Not sure if that would work, but that would be my first try.

I don't know if you can do anything about the injury stuff.

Yep I have actually simulated 11 years just to see how rosters panned out and I noticed too many players are retiring at the age of 34 or 35. Some were still rated low to mid 80s.

I agree there are too many workarounds users must do to turn this wonderful game into an amazing game.

You'd like with them all being the same one's year in and year out, and the game being the same game year in and year out, the developers would actually bother changing some of them....but that's asking too much.

I disagree about players retiring too early. Most players are out of baseball by age 35. I think with the way the developers put in (that players don't retire while in contract) makes it great.

I have browsed through numerous of my franchise saves and I have players that are 40 and many 35 and over. I am playing right now as the Yankees where I have 16 players 34 or older.

There are many times when players leave at the top of their game.
Koufax at 30, Mussina after 20 wins.

Some players have some left in the tank and teams would rather invest in younger cheaper talent. Look at Vlad. He hit .290 at 35 and didn't get a sniff of a contract.

Without clearing out older players, you would have 28 year old rookies, franchise mode would be pointless.

True, but with what I'm hearing about the draft, it appears franchise is somewhat pointless anyway.
I am only basing that on what I've read on here, so I guess take it with a grain of salt so to speak.

I have drafted studs and guys that have performed great. I think the problem is most guys come from instant gratifying sports like basketball and football where a 1st round pick is an automatic starter the next year. Baseball has busts in the first and takes time before they get there.

But simming multiple years in the future I have seen drafted players as mvps, league leaders and Cy young award winners.

I think the biggest complaint people have is the cpu drafts on potential. I think this is better than last year where teams drafted on overall and you could find good young A potential players late in the draft.

I dont have many issues with the draft (besides me never remembering to scout). The complaint i see is that the CPU drafts players with ETA's of 7+ years in the 1st round. In my latest draft (2014) the CPU was pretty good.

Baltimore - probably the worst. No player over 73 potential, Projected 2027.

Boston - 18 year old SP with 82 potential, ready in 2017.

Yankees - 19 year old SP with 80 potential. Ready in 2021 (fairly bad)

Tampa Bay - 18 year old C with 88 potential, ready in 2016. 18 year old RF with 80 potential, ready in 2017. 19 year old CP with 90 potential. Ready in 2020.

Toronto - 19 year old 3B with 82 potential. Ready in 2020. 18 yearold SP with 78 potential. Ready in 2020.

White Sox - 20 year old SP with 94 potential. Ready in 2018.

Cleveland - 18 year old RP with 82 potential. Ready in 2020.

Detroit - 18 year old SP with 74 potential. ready in 2019

Kansas City (Me but CPU picked) - 18 year old 2B with 82 potential. Ready in 2020, 18 year old SP with 84 potential. Ready in 2016. 19 year old RP with 74 potential. Ready in 2017.

Toronto - 21 year old SP with 94 potential. Ready in 2017. 21 year old SS with 74 potential. Ready in 2015.

Angels just as bad as Baltimore. Best player is 21 with a 79 potential ready in 2020.

Oakland - 19 year old LF with 78 potential. Ready in 2020. 19 year old RF with 72 potential. Ready in 2015. 18 year old CP with 82 potential ready in 2019. 18 year old RP with 81 potential ready in 2019.

Seattle - 20 year old SS with 83 potential ready in 2019.

Texas - 20 year old LF with 89 potential ready in 2015.

So out of 30 teams. 2-3 are pretty bad. 2-3 are bad. And another 2-3 are possibly bad. That doesnt take into account that a player may be up before that ETA. And some potentials will rise and fall. That drafting seems okay to me.

I had a player, 33 or 34, who was just hitting his peak when he retired. At the time I thought it was odd considering he was still one of the highest rated players at his position and well on his way to 3,000 hits...so needless to say I see this as an issue.

This. I understand that some players do retire at young ages who were great players but come on. For the most part if an older player has a career year at 34 they are going to try to cash in and get a decent contract of some kind.

The thing that throws every thing out of sync with real life is the limitations of 90 man rosters. I have hopes that the ps4 will allows SDS to increase the 90 mans to 150 players per orginization. But if SDS is trying to keep the ps3, ps4 and vita Show versions compatible, then increased roster sizes may be a good 5 to 6 years away.

As soon as SOTS is playable on the ps4 I could get on board with that.
I have the Show 14 for the vita, ps3 and ps4 . When I need some audio ambience I play the Show on my ps3.
