Not going to dispute that a change or upgrade to the TV booth is needed but if you remember the earlier editions of MLB, it was once considered the ugliest among other BB games (well 2nd to HH), the least "like the players mannerism" among the other BB games, the least valid gameplay among the other BB games, and least options among the other BB games.

It will get there. It will get there.

Almost every commentator in baseball sounds the same anyway, especially the Fox Sports commentators. Most of them seem to be doing their best Joe Buck impression.

Once Vin Scully dies, there will be no one left I like. Not even in terms of sound, but in content and interesting discussion. Vin Scully is more interesting than the best three man commentary team.

"He's got a lot of speed coming out of that lefthanded batters box, so, there's no guarantee of a double play on a groundball."

I have a lefthanded RTTS player. I've heard that line at least 500 times already lol

All in all, the commentary is not bad, it just needs more variety. Don't throw out the old lines, just add to them every year. So eventually, instead of only 1 line for a given situation, you have 5 lines for that situation, and you can shuffle them at random. It will still get repetitive eventually, as everything does, but it will be better and more tolerable.

gotta admit this franchise has gotten pretty stale for me, i find it hard to even take it out of the case anymore

been playing the show since 09 and truthfully not much has changed. Madden has changed more in that time and people give EA a bunch of crap about putting out the same game year after year

I could listen to Vin Scully read the phone book. Best announcer I've ever been fortunate enough to hear call a game.

After about 10 games I turned commentary off.. Was sick of hearing Matt say "Well the crowd hasn't really been a factor, they're just sitting on their hands" like clock work in the 5th inning if I'm pitching well.

The SCEA apologists are ridiculous. Blame this on "coding" too huh?

I can't for the life of me understand why they still refer to Yankee Stadium as "the new Yankee Stadium". No......it was new in 2009. It's been 5 years now. The original Stadium is gone. Demolished. Done. Doesn't exist anymore.

There is only ONE Yankee Stadium now. oy

NBA 2k is the only game that has really good commentary. All the others seem much too repetitive to me. If I played the basketball game more I might feel the same way about that too. I can handle Matt V doing the game but I have to turn off all the others. As far as MLB 2k goes I can live without Kruk myself. His stuff is so filled with errors it sounds like he wrote it himself.

Lol Kruk's horrible in real life too. That entire team puts me to sleep. Vasgersian, in real life, is actually very good.

I didnt expect anything to change with mlb 14 since it was a port from ps3 near the end of console cycle. But going forward with the ps4 being the main focus i hope they will change commentators and the way the dialogue is presented.

Gary thorne and harold reynolds would be refreshing to hear with thorne's voice on exciting plays and home runs being amped up with excitement.

Then also have the dialouge between them sounding like there in the booth together with fluid commentary going back n forth like a real broadcast.

After reading through the thread and thinking about how I handle the commentary, I find it amazing how much I'll put up with and adjust so I can get some form of videogame baseball. I kill the commentary after a few games (silence is better than massive repetition), I turn on auto fielding because of the slow/poor annimations and way early preloading of throws, I turn on auto base running because of the cumbersome controls (1st and 3rd on a sac fly is a nightmare) and I basically just end up hitting and pitching, offline of course.

It's just a shame that the game can't be tightened up in a bunch of little areas while there is no end to the gimmicks and "new" features/game modes. Seems like the game bites off more than it can chew every year with these additions while the core gameplay suffers.

so true, to be honest almost all of those new features presented on fact sheets the last 2 years didnt intrigue me one bit... online franchise, dynamic difficulty, universal profile, community challanges, the show live anybody got excited reading that??

ps. just now looking through the old fact sheets I stumbled over this:
On the commentary side, the three-man booth of Matt Vasgersian, Eric Karros and Steve Lyons return for their second season together. This year's title will emphasize the three announcers in a more interactive, conversational style, yet will also continue to mine the world of baseball to find intelligent, timely and compelling commentary concerning today's teams and players. The overall goal is for the game to get deeper, and for the announcers to better adapt to changing game conditions -- including rising the enthusiasm level when the situation dictates.
                            really?
