How Often Do You Throw The Recommended Pitch

Like the title says, how often do you stick to the recommended pitch by the catcher/cpu? Do you deviate from that and throw the best pitch you think would work for a specific batter and if so, how do you determine what to throw? Also, if you do deviate from the recommended pitch, do you stick to the location suggested or just choose a location based on your pitch selection?

Ive been listening to it more recently. I still choose my own pitch and location 70% of the time at least.

I don't know the exact rate, but I'll make a judgment based on factors like the pitch's confidence, the pitcher's confidence, and situation.

I've watched Bull Durham too many times and remember too well what happens when Nuke doesn't throw what Crash calls for.

I stick with the Catcher generally through most counts, but I will tend to on 1-2 2-2 to do something different if I dont like the call or need my pitcher to have a quick inning bc his pitch count is getting high, I'll try a chase pitch. Or if it is like a Power hitter, and the catcher calls for a FB I'll read the count and decide whether to throw it or not.

I usually do what the catcher suggests about 90% of the time. Like someone else said, if I'm trying to control a pitch count I'll pitch maybe more in the strike zone and what not.

Maybe about 60-70% of the time. I like to listen to the catcher to get ahead, but then do my own thing when I have two strikes on em.


Catcher usually doesn't call for balls way outside the zone... if you set em up properly, those balls outside the zone can produce some silly looking strikeouts on the AIs part, which is a mess of fun.


I should note if ever I'm at all nervous or wary about a catcher's call, I just flat out ignore the guy. I'm convinced you're MEANT to disagree with the catcher and make different decisions sometimes, just like a pitcher IRL.

Agreed - and catcher game calling tendencies, even if just hidden, would be a nice little thing for future versions.

I do get catcher calls for balls out of the zone - perhaps it's somewhat based on your pitching approach?

Awesome, thanks for all the replies everyone. I have been doing them 100% of the time, but I think I will try to mix it up a bit. especially like some of you have said, with 2 strikes.
