Re: Monitor / TV input lag is huge in this gm

I never gave much thought about it playing MLB on my Panasonic 42" led tv but after 2 games playing MLB on my pc monitor I'm sold on getting a gaming monitor.

I am so terrible at hitting. Using dynamic level and playing the whole Spring Training I never got past Rookie+, even went down to Rookie a little. Just thought wow I'm really bad at hitting. So I decided just to see hook ps4 up to pc monitor. First game I was early on everything and still stayed on Rookie+. Understandable though since my timing was probably used to my tv. Second game I bashed the ball all over the park hitting 4 no doubt HRs. I'm even recognizing pitches now as before I couldn't tell difference between fastball, change, slider, etc...

So after just 2 games I'm up to Veteran for the first time. I know it is just 2 games and need longer sample but I'm still sold on maybe it wasn't me but my tv why I was hitting so bad.

For some games, a little bit of lag doesn't really matter, but for something as timing dependent as hitting a baseball, it's critical.

I think this needs to be added to this game.
Yeah, I'm shocked that more games that require timing-based inputs don't do this. I have one other one besides GH3 that has an in-game calibration test, and it tells me there's absolutely no reason to play on my TV when I have a PC monitor I can hook up to the system. There's a difference of about 35 ms between the two, and that can be huge for Rhythm games and Baseball games alike.

Anyone who wants to know what that other game is can PM me if they're curious, I'm not going to make that a topic for this board.

Do you think you have been suffering input lags from monitor? Your online records certainly don't show them.....

I went with a BenQ (like other guys have mentioned), but the specific model I got had been discontinued.

Unless you are really into picture quality and stuff, I think any decent low input lag monitor would do, and it doesn't have to be expensive. Just look for reviews from guys who play online shooter and such hardcore.

Well I used the Sony Bravia and I do love it....but I know here is some slight lag. When I played you in March I was on a Tube TV at a hotel where it was mounted really high...so it was hard to use that TV lol.

I am considering buying the one the gentlemen above linked me to and just using my Sony Bravia for Netflix...when I do get back home anyways.

The only thing that may worry me is that 24 inch TV's may be harder to pick up the pitches....but I am willing to try it anyways. 180 bucks is pretty cheap

Same here. Just purchased it actually as I was in a need for a new PC monitor anyway. Looking forward to trying out the show on it.

I would have preferred a larger screen even purely for getting more out of the detailed graphics, but the bigger screen doesn't really hinder my ability to recognize pitches because it's not the absolute size of view that matters but more how you related the pitch relative to the surrounding (batters, home plate, etc.). Besides, the game might look a bit more crisp on a smaller screen since it runs natively on 720p, I believe... you will notice less effect from anti-aliasing, etc.

Honestly I was so worried about playing on a 24 inch screen when I was ordering it. Man. I'll never go back. The most id do is get a 27 or 28 inch one but I play at a desk with a nice office chair. Best thing I have done.

Doesn't the PS4 version run natively at 1080p?
