Re: Pickoff errors
Seen 1. Maybe 2. The issue for me is every pitcher throwing over 90% of the time i take a lead even with the slider at 0. And half the time they seem to get me.Comment

Re: Pickoff errors
If you quickly press L2 and the base button at the same time, the pitcher will throw it into the stands a lot. I never do that. I hold L2 and then hold the base button. And yes, the CPU pitcher both throws pickoffs and succeeds WAY too much.Boston Red Sox Oakland Raiders Iowa State CyclonesComment

Re: Pickoff errors
Same experience. The more quickly I throw over after looking to first, the more likely I am to throw it into the stands. While it happened a frustrating amount of times earlier in the season, I honestly can't remember the last time it's happened to me since taking my time to look over before throwing.Comment

Re: Pickoff errors
Must be taking your extra step at the right time. If you take it while they're looking, they're going to throw it immediately every time because it'll be harder for your player to change his direction. You have to learn when to take the extra step. I've had a few times with Schafer and Bonifacio where I got 2 extra steps and didn't get thrown at because I waited on when to take my steps. You don't do it immediately every time. Mix up your timing of when your taking your extra step. Being a base-runner is like playing chess with the pitcher and you definitely need to be attentive and pick and choose wisely when to lengthen your lead off.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Back on the pickoff errors, I threw 4 in my first 6-7 back when I was checking out how it played and testing sliders on here (I spend 90-95% of my time in RTTS and on offense, usually pitch in key situations). I don't throw over anymore. I just step off when I see them take that extra step now. Pitchouts are also more effective. I think I was throwing over a bit too quick, now that I think about it. Does pitcher 'Arm Accuracy' have a big effect on pickoffs?Comment

Re: Pickoff errors
In RTTS, I got picked off 3 of the last 4 times taking a lead. I wait until the last seconds AND until they turn their head, but as soon as I take a step, they throw over. Once, they actually threw it in that very small window before the 'extra step' animation actually starts. I have a speedy CF and I'm looking for something more challenging when stealing, so I started taking a lead so I have the threat of a pickoff... but they are usually literally impossible to get back on because the animation takes an extra second to start.

Re: Pickoff errors
I was 38/39 last year with the default lead and Baserunner Speed at 4. I need to find some way of making stealing bases challenging with my current sliders. If you take no step, they throw to first 1/25 times, but to second (I NEVER steal third, so I always hold the stick back) 1/10 times. Even with no lead, it's next to impossible to get back on pickoffs unless you know it's coming.Comment

Re: Pickoff errors
I think the game tries to force you into a certain Fielding% based on your stats. In RTTS mode I get a throwing error on a pickoff in my first game at a new level or year almost every time (same with any other position honestly). Once I get that 1st error of the season on of the way the problem goes away for an amount of time than will randomly strike just as I'm getting close to a .990 Fielding% again if my ratings are high or earlier if they're lower.PSN: KMRBlue1027
