Finally I got my 3 years but they offered 1.1 M/year "plus team option". I dont know what it means by that, is there a way I can check what is/are this/these option/s?

RTTS Question - Negotiating Contract
When a team gave you a contract, i did some bargaining for like 4 days and every day the exchanges were changed from 7 years down to 3 years, which i prefer at 1.3 M. I know that if I dont agree with their contract at the beginning of the season I will be forced to accept their deal.

Re: RTTS Question - Negotiating Contract
I forget how The Show does it, but you either have a 2+1 or 3+1 contract. If it's 2+1 you're guaranteed your money for 2 years, but at the end of the 2nd season the team has the option to retain your services and give you the money for the 3rd season, or void the contract and cut ties with you entirely. Team options are commonly for younger guys that aren't really a sure thing, older players tend to look for player options so they can get out if the team isn't performing well.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago Blackhawks -
Re: RTTS Question - Negotiating Contract
I had multiple save right after the season, before going to contract negotiation. After much haggling....so far I have 2 separate offers (from different saved file). What do you think is a good offer?
1. 1.1M/yr x 3 years (with Team option)
2. 630K/yr x 1 year
I'll try again tonite and see what kind of offers I will get, I saved 4 files. Again, its just random offers. In my 1st offer, the team offered me with 7 years with less than a million a year. My player won the MVP and offered me long term with less than a million per. When I looked at the Marlins budget, it has 45M less than salary cap.Comment

Re: RTTS Question - Negotiating Contract
Those two deals are interesting. I'm assuming this is after year 1 in RTTS and your stats are only going to dramatically improve. Take the 1 year deal and treat it as a "prove it" contract. You get 1 year to try to really lay it all out there and go nuts. If you perform really well, you can negotiate a big contract with the team. At that point it's important to line your contract up with when you're free from arbitration because you want to hit free agency while your value is at it's peak.
I used this strategy with my main RTTS guy and received a 6 year $60M contract after my 2nd professional year. Once I was able to hit the open market, I got another massive contract that was around $120M over 5 or 6 years. Money honestly means nothing in this mode, but it feels nice to wheel and deal and try to get as much as you can for yourself.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago BlackhawksComment

Re: RTTS Question - Negotiating Contract
I am in the same thinking....the upcoming season is my "prove it". Yes this is my negotiation for this RTTS (as SP). The other offers were almost same as the #1 with different values and at times options are included.
Yea...how I wish the money can be used in the game....like buying stuffs like cars, houses (with property tax etc.) charities etc. The only important thing about this money is when you retire, i think, it will say how much money you accumulated....and I dont know if there's a reward there like a trophy.
So you did finish your 6 years at 60M then after that you received multiple offers in FA? How long was your RTTS? You played what position? Thanks.Comment

Re: RTTS Question - Negotiating Contract
I'm still finishing up his career. If I recall correctly it's the year 2022 so he's 26 years old and well on his way to becoming the best 2B to ever play the game. It's all about bringing a championship to San Diego though.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago BlackhawksComment

Re: RTTS Question - Negotiating Contract
Since contract money has no value in this game, I always sign for league minimum so the team I'm on can afford to get help around me. Nothing is less fun than making 25mil per year and playing for a last place team every year.Athletics Franchise:

Re: RTTS Question - Negotiating Contract
If I'm not mistaken, the only way to speed this up is if you get traded, but I could be wrong. If you already know all of that I apologize.
My original team did attempt to sign me, but they low balled me. I received my offer from the Padres about a month into the free agency period. If I had to guess, I'd say around 8-12 teams sent an offer.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago BlackhawksComment
