Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
Gonna assume it was a player playing out of position? It needs to happen IRL. There could be a player on a team that may be the best 2B ever if given the chance. But no that cant happen since the people in charge seem to think it would destroy the world. -
Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
They added this ability for RttS players who asked to be lefty infielders......
They let it in for franchise as well.....
Here is an O.S. article on it...

On an unrelated note....I'm shocked you posted about something other than framerate.

Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
No... The people in charge realize how wonky and awkward a lefty playing the infield would be. They can make all the highlight diving stops they want, but they'll never be able to throw guys out on those plays cause they have to twist and cross their bodies to make the throw.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago BlackhawksComment

Unless it was a PH situation and then an inning or 2, you could get away with it."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
I understand people want equality in the world nowadays, but there are some people that are just born with a better chance to succeed in certain jobs in life. And a right handed person is born with a better 'God given' shot to play the infield in baseball than a lefty."Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
Have you tried to play infield left handed?
I've tried it, not even at any skillful level/semi-pro level, and it was painful, almost literally
It wasn't so bad on throws to first, though covering the hole is always a backhanded play. So I put myself closer to the hole, which left the middle even more open. And turning a DP or even throwing to second (or third for that matter) was an adventure.
Also tried playing third. The pick-up-and-throw play is non-existent. SS...ugh.
Granted, I might just not be cut out for infield. I was fine at 1B. Hated outfield. Settled on pitchingNow there was something I loved (and still love - every time there's a pick-up game or when we had the church mini-baseball league - I pushed hard to pitch and tried learning the knuckler and the screwball. Love love pitching).
Anyway, I can see why there's no lefty infielders. If there ever was a lefty THAT athletic that could do it - he'd probably end up being a centerfielderbut it would be cool to see someone do it and get the chance to stick and succeed at it.

Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
I'm a lefty and I played the infield (1B)
I actually played 2B one time in Little League baseball because our starting 2B pooped his pants while running the bases.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
i just finished a series vs KC where they decided, in their infinite wisdom to start Adam Eaton at SS (he is of course a lefty, who is supposed to only play outfield but whatever)
he averaged 4 errors a game in a four game series: one game he made 6 errors, all on routine ground balls
everything he did was just so wrong from fielding a ball in the hole to trying to whip his body in a circle for a DPComment

Lefty at 1B isn't a rarity at all, it's the only position lefties can play efficiently in the infield.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago BlackhawksComment

Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
They actually have an advantage at 1st, it's much easier to turn a 3-6-3 double play as a lefty, same thing for trying to throw a guy out at 3rd when the other team is trying to bunt a guy over. Keith Hernandez would make those plays in to a thing of beautyComment

Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
I'd rather play Juan Samuel or Chuck Knoblauch or even a one legged dog at second before I played a lefty at 2b. OK, well maybe not Knoblauch.T-BONE.

Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
The dog would be the best bet. All his contract would ask for is a steak after the game and being allowed to pee on the opposing pitching mound."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Left Handed Throwing 2nd Baseman
Played one inning at second in little league, loved it...as it was something new and foreign to me. Moved my guy over to second base last nite in a blowout game for fun, and he got a ball up the middle then tried to throw to first....it was funny to watch. Needless to say, the guy was safe by like 10 feet since he had to turn his body before throwing.Blues and Avs fan!!! Arsenal soccer fan, and Rays baseball fan!!Comment
