    Poor Free Agent Market

I had a question with the hopes that one of the intelligent guys on here could help me answer it and figure out my problem. By the title of the thread you can probably tell what my problem is; in my roster I have some of the big name Cuban free agents (Rusney Castillo, Alfredo Despaigne, Yulieski Gourriel, Kenta Maeda, etc) and playing as the Red Sox I signed Castillo to the contract the Sox signed him to on the same date, but at the end of the season all of these guys retired due to "Poor Free Agent Market" even with some of the other international FA's under contract with other teams, is there anyway to solve this problem? any feedback or suggestions would help, thanks in advance!

Did you create those players during your franchise after the draft?

Sign them to 5 year deals before the end of the season.

is that just a shot in the dark? or does that actually solve the problem?

An old post, but I would like to follow up on this.

I signed Rusney (3 yr 4mil each), Tomas(1 yr 88k), and Maeda(4 yr 4mil) and Jimenez (1 yr 88k) at the beginning of the season (I think) and none of them retired.

BUT, I signed Kang, Moncada, and Despaigne middle of June to the suggested 5 yr deals, I made sure they were worth at least 5mil (just in case AI got greedy) and they all retired.

I'm not sure why this is the case and would like to know if there is a fix before I continue with my franchise.

If they sit in the Free Agent list for more than half the season they'll retire. Try signing players in Spring Training or within the first 2 months of the season.
