    Players Salaries Changing?

I'm in an Online Franchise. I am using the OSFM roster.

I copied down the guys salaries earlier this season into excel, and now some of them have changed for some bizarre reason.

David Ross was making $3.7m to start the year, now 158 games into the season, his salary is $2.1m

    Trevor Bauer's salary increased from 580K to 718k, mid-season.

    Completely inexplicable.

Not only that, but some guys aren't accumulating service time. Mike Olt has been my 3B all year long. He's showing 0.168 years (yet he has appeared in 130 games).
Jose Abreu is showing 0.088 service time, yet has 450 AB and 26 HR with my big league club.

Are the finances completely botched or what?

I don't have much experience with Online franchise....so not sure if that's the issue...

But in the OSFM....David Ross is making 1.9 million.
(That number will change if you edit him.....and start a franchise....something else to keep in mind)

I checked through some players since reading this and in an OFFLINE franchise....I haven't seen any changes in salaries through August.

Checked again a few days later.

Ross salary dropped again from 2.1 to 2.0m

Bizarre. I dont feel like checking everyone again but it would not surprise me to see they have changed too.

Pujols salary fell from 10.2m to 8.5m. Nelson Cruz went up from 9 to 11.4. How the hell am I supposed to prepare for an off season like this?

Must be an online thing. This does not happen in offline. Submit a bug report. Salaries are locked in offline when a franchise is started based on age, potential, overall and position. It must be the online recalculates through out the season.

Yeah, my salaries are staying the same as well, offline franchise. Although I wouldn't mind if they were dropping so I would have more money in the offseason to sign free agents.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

It definitely doesn't happen in offline franchise.
I've checked it out a ton now...just to be sure.
              Whew!

It must be recalculating as players are getting their training/coaching/hot-cold streak changes for ONLINE franchises.
(although, I haven't checked on that at all...just guessing as to what might be happening)

I don't use the online, but the way you are describing it, it is being based on progression and regression and potential changes. If that is the case take a look at the Yankees. I'm sure you will see huge salary drops in salary for Jeter and ichiro if my hypothesis is correct.

                  Re: Players Salaries Changing?

I just went in and checked those fellows salaries. They are unchanged. Actually, the entire leagues salaries are unchanged. My players are the only ones who have changed. As far as the AMOUNT of the change - yes, I agree , its based on their progression and age.

In the final days of the season I demoted a lot of my starters down to AAA as I wanted to play the kids. All of the recalcs are guys that were shuffled between MLB and AAA. Guys who remained stationary did not have their salaries recalculated, with a couple exceptions. Yordano Ventura went from 580K to $1.1m without being promoted. So its not a sure bet that it's the cause.

                  I'm stumped.

If you would make one post....with all your specifics in it...I'll forward it to Aaron and Luis to get it fixed for '15.
Did you promote Ventura from AAA out of Sprint Training?....

                      Re: Players Salaries Changing?

I will try to summarize ---

Online league, using a draft. Early on in the season, copied each players specifics down into Excel, including salary. It appears thatplayers that are shuffled between AAA and MLB seem to have their salaries recalculated. It can happen more than once during the season.

                      Examples:

Mike Trout started season at $1.9m. Sent him to AAA late in the year in order to bring up some rookies. Trout’s salary jumped to $9.5m, likely because he passed the 3 yr service time mark.

Chris Sale’s salary jumped from $6.8 to $7.5m upon demotionto AAA.

Starlin Castro jumped from $6.3m to $7.8m upon demotion.

Nelson Cruz jumped from $9.8m to $11.4m upon demotion

Salvador Perez increased from $1.2m to $1.3m upon demotion

Albert Pujols salary FELL from $10.2 to $8.5m upon demotion, likely due to age related ratings decrease.

Huston Street salary increased from $5.6m to $6.7m upon demotion

Bud Norris increased from $2.3m to $2.7m

Travis D’Arnaud increased from $704K to $783K when he was called up from AAA to MLB

Trevor Bauer increased from $580K to $718K without ever being called up OR demoted.

David Ross started season at $3.7m. Demoted halfway through season, and salary kept falling all year, ending at $2.0m

Tim Beckham increased from $530k to $558k upon promotion toMLB

Jackie Bradley fell from $680k to $655k upon promotion toMLB

Yordano Ventura was increased from $580k to $1.1m without any promotion or demotion.

There is no Spring Training in Online Franchise, so neither Bauer nor Ventura spent a single day on MLB rosters at the time of their salary recalculation.

As a secondary note, several players do not seem to be accumulating service time.

Examples: Jose Abreu shows 0.091 yrs service time, despite having played in 133 MLB games this season

Mike Olt shows 0.171 yrs service time, despite appearing in 133 games this season. There are likely others as well.

Was in an Online league, same thing happened to me. Contracts would reset. Yankees year 1 had every contract, sans CC, reset to 1 year deals. 2nd year I signed Rafa Soriano, Bourjos, Markakis and others for 2+ year deals. All went down to 1 year deals and their salaries decreased.
