If I ask for a trade, does the manager treat me any different? I'm in AA with the Braves organization and have a decent chance to advance depending on Freeman's contract.

How long (average) does it take to get "the call"? Obvioulsly that depends a lot on who's in front of you - which leads me to my next question...

How likely are they to grant you a trade should you request one?

I was in the Braves' organization (AA) as a 1st baseman. Then I requested a trade since I was buried on the organization's depth chart. Then I was asked if I wanted to change positions. I said yes (to 3B) as my potential was B while Johnson's was C. I was offered a contract by Atlanta and made the big club - skipping AAA, which I really didn't want to do but I wasn't going to complain.
Then, 20 games into my first season in the bigs, they honor my request for a trade (6 months later) and I get traded to a team I dislike. Now it's not giving me another option to request to get traded.
    Am I just screwed?
The manager should not treat you any different once you ask for a trade.

Getting the call is really up to you. It is based mostly on you performance and adjusted overall rating. I have been called up as soon as a month in AA and as long as two years in AAA. You can also get sent down of your adjusted overall drops to low.

You have to spend some time for the request to pop again. Usually about a month or so and then the option presents itself again. Remember asking for a trade is no guarantee that it will happen right away. I have been asking for a trade for my Shortstop, I am in Tampa, for 4 months and still have not gotten the trade.

      Re: RTTS Questions

Thanks for information. I am going to try to do my best. I may also request a trade when the option comes up again. I would also like to request to go to triple-a if possible. I went right from Double A to the majors and I feel that I am NOT ready. I am only 19 years old and have struggled in the six games that I played in the majors. I would not mind some time back down to get a bit more seasoned.

At what point will I be able to negotiate? After my 1st season in AA, I made the Braves out of spring training but was offered a 1 yr contract for the AA team even though I never went back to the minors.

So I am coming up on the end of my 1st big league season (with Texas now). I am in the running for ROY. Will I be able to negotiate?

You can't negotiate until you have 6 full years of Major League Service, then you can test free agency.

Well, thats not completely right. You can negotiate a bit on any contract in the off season, but you can't sign with any other team.

Ok thanks. I heard that I couldn't be a FA until the 6 years were up but wasn't sure about negotiations. So after this season is over, my one year contract comes to an end. No other team can sign me? And my only hope to get out of this organization is to request a trade?

Exactly. Though you can try to negotiate a little more money or years with you current team. The big money doesn't come until free agency.
