Here's another one. This one is a grounder to first that the CPU tries to start a double play on. On the throw back from second, the ball bounces and skips away from the pitcher covering first. The first basemen sees it skip away and runs after it … unfortunately he's not running to where it is.. Keep an eye on the ball after it bounces.

I'll pass it along."Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"Comment

Here's another one, this one happened to my friend yesterday.
He's the Angels. Pop up hit to first. Pujols camps under it and … it hits him in the head. Somehow though Pujols has the wherewithal to pick up the ball with plenty of time to get the runner at first. So he walks over to the bag and … stands there without touching the base. Runner safe..

Looks like a misplayed pop up, and then the runner beats Pujols to the bag...unless Pujols never touched the bag (or did it too casually)...it's difficulty to say with the camera angle and playback speed of the replay in the video."Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"Comment

That happened once in 25 years. In the show it happens all the time. Please stop trying to defend the game with once in a million plays. It's not perfect. There are issues that need to be rectified. Defending the game with random occurrences that happened 25 years ago doesn't exactly build a solid foundation for your argument, good sir.Last edited by Padgoi; 09-10-2014, 12:15 AM.Comment

It was scored that way.. That's not the point.. The user was there. The fielder was there. The game went into a wonky animation to make it look like an error. Errors should be made, but not unrealistic ones that turn into 3 base errors because the animation system is completely wonky.Last edited by Padgoi; 09-10-2014, 12:14 AM.Comment

Again, I disagree. The fielder should automatically have his glove up ready to catch the ball.. That's what fielders do. They don't get to the location first, then lift their glove.. If they did this, the score of every game would be 47-42 because nothing would be caught. If you're going to continue using an animation-driven system, the fielders need to be in catching position PRIOR to actually reaching the location of the ball.Comment

Errors should be because the user made a mistake, not because the game decided it was time to make an error and fabricate a 3 base error that is entirely unrealistic.
If errors were all "user only" then you would average like 20 errors a season.Comment

I don't necessarily agree with this. I mean the difficulty of tilting your analog stick towards a catch marker doesn't at all compare to the difficulty of actually fielding a ball. How would they normalize errors, and produce a realistic rate if some artificial difficulty were not inserted?

Agree, I reworded that post because after reading it, it didn't sound accurate. Errors should be made, but not unrealistic ones that turn into absurd 3 base errors because the animation system is completely wonky.Comment

Re: Someone please explain this to me - I've never seen anything so blatant before (w
I know sometimes balls get completely booted in real life, but sometimes the fielder picks the ball right up after a mistake, and still gets the out, too. I'd like to see more of the latter.
I'd also like to see errors distributed better. Too many routine plays end up with errors, not enough difficult plays end with errors. I'd like to see fewer errors on generic fly balls, and more errors on dives, hard grounders, barehands, everything fielded by the pitcher, backhands, etc...Comment

A bit too literal, my friend.
Anyway, back on topic, I'll continue using this thread for any other videos I take. Probably won't get a chance to play again until Friday at the earliest.Comment

Is this where we're putting crazy/weird plays? I've got a sorta wild one, but I think it's kinda cool since I've only ever seen it once.
Runner on first, one out. Batter pops up to the infield. The entire infield runs in to surround the pitcher and watch as he catches the ball. Meanwhile, the runner on 1st tags up and runs to 2nd... where there's no one to whom the pitcher can throw the ball. He makes it safely.
It's like the entire team decided to forget there was only one out, or were so worried that Paxton (I think?) was going to drop the ball, that they forgot all their other responsibilities.Last edited by torpidbeaver; 09-10-2014, 03:29 PM.Comment
