    Is pitcher warmup cheese?

Noticed your pitcher gains confidence during warmups. Seems silly, and makes him overly effective.

Thoughts? Sucks because warmups ate helpful for meter pitching.

What's wrong with cheese? Dairy products just get no love around here.

I always just pitch once or twice with each new pitcher to get myself into the swing of things as far as their timing goes. This is mostly due to time considerations though.

Now that I think about it not doing all 8 pitches may explain why my bullpen is so horrible. ...it'll make a nice scapegoat at the very least.

Don't really know if there is a universally accepted definition of video game cheese but this is one I came across-
In a gaming scene the word cheese is used to describe strategies or ways of playing that are really powerful and do not require much skill from the players side at the same time.
If this fits parameters of context, then I submit using Warmup is NOT cheese, the skill being displayed by the user is patience.
Also, I don't use Warmup because I lack said patience.

I would say no. Sometimes I have a pitch that I couldn't get in the strike zone if I walked it to the plate, in warmups. So I know I won't really have that pitch in the game.

Whether or not it's all placebo is debatable. But I do know for a fact that warmups adds to confidence in a pitch, and also subtracts from it. I can't really speak to how quickly that changes once the game actually starts tho. I usually roll with the pitches I was doing well with in warmups for as long as possible.

I've literally had warmups render me into a two-pitch pitcher. Sometimes with great results, and sometimes I get shelled.

No more cheese than the CPU pitcher getting advantages for gaining/losing confidence - both with pitches and overall pitcher confidence.

            Balances out, imo.

And that's assuming the CPU doesn't do warm-ups (could be randomized/simmed behind the scenes).

Plus, if a pitcher gets hurt, he'll need warm-ups to get to Ready status, which, I presume, has some sort of meaning. It's bad enough an injured pitcher doesn't get as many tosses as he needs to get warm. Can't count the number of times my SP goes down to injury early and I have to bring in an ice cold reliever who gets just 8 warm-up tosses.

IMO, its not a cheese because at times I missed hitting the mark Besides, its part of the game at times that you can't control a pitch and I think this is a good addition. BTW, Im playing RTTS as pitcher.

Hell no. It's not cheese. It's sim.

IRL when your warming up...your finding your release point on your pitches. That's why you warm up. To find your rhythm and groove and to get comfortable on the mound.

I have warm-ups turned on for this exact reason. I want to see what kind of stuff my pitchers have...which pitches seem to be working out of the gate. Like in real life....if you throw 3 sliders in warm ups and they are wild....your not going to have a lot of confidence throwing that pitch out of the gate.

Totally way cool sim element to a fantastic game.
