Face Scanning Feature for MLB THE SHOW 15?

I'm thinking this should be a must for Road To the Show and Create a Player next year.

After seeing how awesome it is on the NBA 2K15 Trailer.

I think it would be perfect for MLB The Show.

I would buy a PS camera for sure

It really depends where is SCEA now at the stage of their production for MLB 15. But yes, from now on, this is a MUST for all Sports games.

I'd they get this in but it's nothing I care too much about. I just want a next-gen game.

does scea use face scanning for their rosters, if not, they need to jump on that technology, it would save them so much time. then it would just be a matter of putting a font end in the game that runs the same app for us if they wanted to allow us to tap into that experience.

They should also change the way you create a players face, the way it works now so many created players just look weird

I personally find the face editor to be the best in video games outside of those crazy detailed korean MMOs. However, the preset faces are indeed weird looking and it doesnt help that the lighting in the editor gives skin a funky matte texture. Also, it might just be me but i'm not a fan of the grid boxes getting smaller every year. It makes it harder for me to copy over faces year to year.

OT, a face scanner would be amazing, i would just take screens of my CAPs and hold the prints in front of the camera lol

If this is added to MLB 15 The Show, I will buy a PS camera in a heartbeat.

The beards on created players are also glitched this year.

If you put stubble on a player, in all cutscenes it will appear as a full beard, and even when it's not doing that, it jus looks really jumpy and bugged.

I agree 2k15 is setting the standard for career mode in sports video games. I remember a while back ea had the whole upload your face thing but I never really liked it

Re: Face Scanning Feature for MLB THE SHOW 15?

As a whole, I think face scanning for this series is a bad idea. There are too many players and if you don't can every single person in the MLB you will already have too much disparity in the graphics of player faces. Then knowing how often rookies and new members join the MLB it would become an entirely long process of waiting to become satisfied with the face scanning process.

Secondly, MLB The Show has always been ahead of the curve with their player models compared to any other sports titles as well as their crowd models which still is far ahead. Id like them to use the PS4 power to continue doing what they've done and make it even better.

I think if they incoprorate player emotion, facial expressions etc similar to how FIFA 15 that will be a huge deal. I'll find a post I've written about this idea and quote below:

Face scanning is already a thing for MLB players though, the bulk of it is done during spring training IIRC.

What this thread is discussing is the ability to scan faces for created players to use in RTTS and (what I personally hope for) franchise mode.

                      Edit:

Here's a blurb about some Mariners players getting their face scanned for the game:

                      Video Game Head Scans:
Sony was in camp today getting head scans for their video game MLB The Show. Once players have gone through the head scan process they don’t have to do it again. It is a pretty elaborate set up that takes less than 10 minutes, but literally takes pictures and scans every feature of the players head. This year outfielder Abraham Almonte, infielder Brad Miller and right-handed pitcher Hector Noesi each spent time in the chair getting their head scanned. MLB The Show has released a new and updated version since 2006.

They are done in Spring Training of the previous season. For example Most of MLB 15's facial scans will be from this past Spring Training (2014). (So Robbie Cano should have his beard in MLB 15.)

That's what I thought as well, but I edited my original post after finding that picture of Almonte since his and Miller's faces made it into '14. Might've just been an exception this year since the game was delayed.

They probably do a few teams throughout the season as well, but most of it is done in Spring Training. You're probably right with the late release they probably got more players in than expected.

I would love to see this feature added. You'd sell me on a Playstation camera in an instant. I always find making my CAP look like me is impossible, this would take a lot of work out of it.
