Re: How can you translate rating into stealing and baserunning agg

The steal rating which I believe from memory used to be called baserunning ability determines how good a jump a runner gets off first base.

Aggressiveness I believe determines how often then will try to take an extra base.

Regarding steals, I look for guys with a combination of 70 steal and 70 speed rating. Using opening day rosters from SCEA I have a generated player who has a steal rating of 90 but speed of 40 and I seldom steal with him because he gets a good jump but is too slow.

I'm not sure if that answers your question.

so aggressiveness is basically steal attempts so i assume.

Sorry I didn't answer your PM....I've been busy(and avoiding the ridiculous state that O.S. has become quite a bit )....but speed is a larger factor in steals this year as well.
It used to be that agg was the main factor in attempts.
It's much more of a combination of the three now for reasons stated above.

I kind of liked it the old way as I could literally control a player regardless of speed(think Kevin McReynolds circa 1988...not fast...but stole 21 bags....with 0 CS)...or maybe a fast guy who isn't a base stealer.

        Speed
        Agg
        Ability

Are you trying to do this for '14?(MLBTS '14)

First...Gary Brown has 36 steals in the MINOR leagues. He was also CS 20 times which is not that great.

Unfortunately for '14 his Speed/ST/BR AGG would have to be inflated to get 36 steals.
For stealing...it would probably need to be high 70's/low 80's and his agg also about the same.(for 550 AB's)

Yes im playing mlbts 14 this must be the issue im having rating gary brown speed as 92 and why im not reaching 36 steals. So if i lower his speed would it have to be 82 take ten points off to obtain 36 steals.Just wondering if i have a milb player speed rated in 90's would it be diffcult for the player to reach his steals in the 30's or 40.Thanks on info the knight
