Defensive Positioning (not working on auto)

Never had an issue until now, but if I ever open up this screen to check positioning, it will no longer work on auto. It just saves the previous setting.

I know I can easily adjust these, but this isn't how auto should work and is not how it used to work.

    What gives?

    Never had this issue.

Could you by chance have accidentally changed the Duration from "ONE BATTER" to "ALWAYS"??
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I think I'm actually having this issue. Once I go into the defensive positioning mode even to just check the current positioning, when I exit out the interface, the auto positioning doesn't seem to work any more.

Each time, I seem to need to put the positioning for ALWAYS to normal, and then ONE BATTER to reflect what I want to do for that batter, and then the game seems to understand and revert to the normal positioning.

But then the fielders don't seem to take shifts against extreme pull/push hitters after I do any of this.

Make sure to change "always" to "one batter" even if you are just checking the alignment and not changing anything otherwise "always" will inadvertently stick.

For part two of your problem, is that occurring after you set the alignment or are you expecting it to happen automatically? If it is the latter, I believe Russell said shifts are hard wired to certain players (for now hopefully) and for everyone else you have go in and change it yourself.

I think you are right about the need for toggling and be on "ONE BATTER" when you actually exit the user interface (which is very clunky...).

As for shifting, when put on auto (and without trying to tough the defensive positioning at all), the game does shift according to hitters' tendency.

But I'm not confident it does this once I do anything with the defensive positioning manually. When I set things to "normal" for "ALWAYS" (just to make sure that it reverts to sane positioning after I do something manually with "ONE BATTER"), then I got a sense that it doesn't shift according to tendency any more.

But I have to try again to see if it indeed doesn't automatically shift properly... It's not very clear what gets saved and not with ALWAYS, ONE BATTER, ONE INNING, etc. It's not even clear how to nullify the changes and simply exit the user interface...
