I feel like I've cheated...

So I just finished my first real postseason run as a hitter. I had my usual dominant season with .330 46 HR 120 RBI and 70 SB. Dont worry I play on legend with zone hitting so im not cheesing.

Anyways once the postseason started I won the first series in a sweep. We got to the NLCS to play the Reds, and long story short we were up 3-2 coming home for games 6 and 7. We lost game 6, and then lost game 7. I was of course dominating the entire series but getting little help from my offense, and then in game 7 despite my going 2-2 with 2 BB (they pitch around me constantly), my team still lost.

So what I did was I didnt save, and then played game 7 over for a win. Then in the World Series, we lost the first 2 games at home. I replayed it and we ended up winning in a sweep.

I wasnt about to let my entire seasons worth of play go to waste because my teammates choked while I dominated. Plus my player had never won a WS. But I feel like I cheated. Did I?

Yes, of course you did or you wouldn't be asking the question. But its a game, do whatever you want, but just remember that World Series ring has a big asterisk stamped on it.

In franchise mode I would probably consider this cheating, since it's your fault you lost the first time.

But in RTTS, which is the mode I assume you're talking about... it's different. You can't really influence how your team performs or who wins or loses. It's more luck than anything. Probably a little less cheating and a little more preventing the CPU from cheating you.



Either way, I did this before, when I was younger. Back in 2005, in MVP Baseball, I took the Red Sox to the playoffs and promptly got eliminated in four games without ever winning a single playoff game. I wanted to really experience the playoffs though, so I reset and tried again and made it to the World Series, where I lost to (I think) the Phillies. I let that save. I didn't necessarily want to win the WS, I just wanted the chance to at least enjoy the postseason.

Of course you cheated. But it is your game, it is your time and entertainment and you are free to play the game anyway you want. I used to do similar things in the past (restart games that I was losing in). But then it always bugged me knowing that I didn't really win. So I stopped doing it and took the loss when the planets didn't align for me. Losing ####s, but now if/when I do win it's more satisfying.

It's okay. Baseball was built on cheating, from stealing signs to steroids and everthing in between. Winners may never cheat, but they don't always win. However cheaters rarely lose.

You did in a way...but it's just a game.
But for me......when I lose......although it sucks(especially when you feel like you should have won!)....finally winning(maybe the next year ).....is much more rewarding.

Yea this and what Knight said.
I've never even think of just restarting when I lose or to just keep playing the game till I win.
Makes no sense to me, doesn't really matter what the settings are if that's the mind set. Jmho

When my brother and I were growing up, playing Tony La Russo baseball on the PC . . . I would take hours to edit/create players to come up with the most accurate rosters possible before playing a season, my brother would blithely pick his favorite team (usually the Cub), promptly edit all the players to their max stats/ratings . . . then proceed to play both sides in his league, to ensure his team won every game from Opening Day to the World Series.

Compared to that standard, you are down right honest!

My brother is a preacher now; I still kid him about it till this day.

I wouldn't stop there I would also say your cheating with this stat line " .330 46 HR 120 RBI and 70 SB". There is harder difficulty available than just playing at legend difficulty
