I finally finished a season in manage only mode

Earlier I conducted a test using three different franchises for a total of 100 games pre-patch. Zero simming, all games played in their entirety.

I then continued one of those post patch franchises to the end of the season although due to the unrealistically low scoring games it took quite a while because I lost interest. Admittedly this is less than perfect but I'm not willing to play an entire season post patch with the gameplay in the state it is in. There did seem to be a little more offense post patch but still it is far too low and as before I attribute it to the increase in chased pitches and outs made on chased pitches relative to hits on chased pitches.

For the Marlins these are the results for a full season.

    team batting average 28th .240
    runs 30th 547
    hits 30th 1321
    doubles 30th 224
    home runs 30th 92
    runs batted in 30th 518
    slugging percentage 30th .338
    on base percentage 28th .299
    total bases 30th 1865

    era 2nd 3.09
    hits allowed 2nd 1279
    runs allowed 3rd 559
    earned runs 2nd 511
    home runs allowed 1st 132
    strikeouts 7th 1259

Ordinarily I would be at around 500 games played in manage mode by this point. I never thought I'd say this but I have lost interest in the Show. Perhaps next year's version will be improved.

Re: I finally finished a season in manage only mode

I am almost finished the "Manage Only Mode" 2014 season I started back in April. I just played game #5 of the World Series last night. But game #6 is needed, so the long long long season continues. Perhaps it will all end tonight? or perhaps a 7th game will still be needed. But the light at the end of the tunnel is there.

I have not simmed any games. All 162 + all playoff games were played. But I did not actually play all 162 games. There were times during the summer months when I was either busy doing something else, or had sort of lost interest when I made my team play CPU vs CPU games to get through the schedule. I'd say I played only about 70% of the 162 game schedule. But in the middle of September I made sure to play all my games and of course I have played all the playoff games and/or watched all the CPU vs CPU playoff games my team was not involved in. Now I am about three weeks behind the real world schedule as there was no way I was going to watch/play four playoff games in one night. Two was a chore, four would be crazy.

Oh and I have applied all the patches, but I am not seeing what you said happened with all the games being low scoring games. I see a mix of low scoring games as well as a mix if high scoring affairs. But I did see something in one of my games that I had never seen before (so far it has only happened once). A few weeks ago I was able to pick off the base runner leading at 1st base. So one of the patches had to have brought this feature to the game because I have never been able to do this before.

As far as 2015 is concerned. I am hoping the "play no baseball between November and March" helps me when Spring training is set to begin next year. But without a doubt a 162 game baseball season is a marathon. Definitely not easy to get through.

Not sure when the last patch was. It's been a while. I am running version 1.12 which I assume is the latest since my PS4 is constantly connected to the net when it is turned on.

BTW: my season did not end last night. A 7th game was forced and I will play it tonight.

I'm curious if you are using default sliders and what team you are using.

No I was not using defaults. I was using a slightly modified variation from nomo's sliders. Plus I was playing with the Rockies. In 2015 I am tempted to try a different team. There are a lot of cool stadiums in the A.L. However I am not a fan of the D.H. but it is hard to select an N.L. I might like to play for. Don't really like anyone in the east. Can't play for anyone in the west who is not the Rockies. That leaves the central. Perhaps the Cubs? A season at Wrigley might be interesting?

That would explain why you weren't seeing the problem with lack of offense in manage mode. I adjusted zero sliders prior to this year, there was no need to. I'm not sure what prompted Brian to make the changes. Unlike every other sports game the Show was the one game which had excellent, realistic gameplay out of the box. The problem with making massive changes to sliders is player attributes get overwhelmed by the slider set.

Perhaps next year the game will revert to the excellent game play of previous years. I'll find out when I rent the game.
