Pitcher has a 2-2 count against a guy for example. Already showing 35 pitches thrown. First pitch we see thrown gets put in play. Let's say a ground out. That would put the pitch count at 36. Next guy up comes up with a 1-1 count, pitch count should show 38 right. 36 after the last hitter, 1-1 count to the new hitter. 38 pitches. But it NEVER adds up correctly. In that scenario the next guy comes up with a 1-1 count it would still say 36 or maybe go to 37. It's completely messed up.
Maybe I missed something along the way with this. I have never tried it out before in all the months this game has been out. It just seems ridiculous. Only way I can think to justify it is thinking sometimes guys will hit the first or second pitch and since quick counts have to show 2 pitches already thrown it kinda works itself out.
But realistically if after each hitter the pitchers pitch count is off by 1-3 pitches, that's a huge difference. Say a guy pitches 8 innings, if what I'm saying is an actual issue, that's roughly 24 pitches not shown in the pitch count. That's a good 2 innings where that guy maybe would have been pulled in the 6th and not the 8th.
Sorry this was so long, and sorry for the rant, I just couldn't believe this and couldn't believe I couldn't find anything else on this topic.
