Re: Sortable Season and Career Stats

Agreed with 100% of everything on this thread. It really is inexcusable how little attention is given to stat tracking at this point. Nothing has changed since the PS2 days...

I would love to see stats be the primary evaluation tool for a players current skill set instead of the outdated 1-100 scale. I think the most fun and realistic method for any Franchise player would be a combination of the standard 20-80 Scouting Scale and statlines. The Scouting Scale would show a players potential and not his current ability. The current ability should remain hidden and let us figure out where the player stands by evaluating their stats. The offseason would be a BLAST if they did this.

      This is spot-on.

I personally hate everything about the overall rating, especially in it's numerical form they've succumbed to adopting. But your post is a perfect suggestion.. shame it won't happen this year at all though, if ever.

This is a great idea. It would force you to sign players based on potential and statistical output rather than just signing based on numerical ratings.

I didn't see anything in the fact sheet about stat expansion. Does anybody have any insight on if they improved upon this for 15 or, if not, is it a priority for 16? The fact sheet thread is too long and I'm too lazy to sift.

Re: Sortable Season and Career Stats

It's a shame us stat lovers (which is basically 98% of baseball fans) could not get the most basic of things again in 15... At least a stats line to work with when doing lineups would have been nice. This game is much too ratings driven, and that's really the opposite of how it should be... It should be stats drive the ratings, and players have instead potential ratings, preferably more hidden, so that scouts, managers and general managers can use what they do in real life, STATS!!! The template of OOTP is there, no need to reinvent the wheel... Players don't make it to MLB because they look good on a ratings sheet (super speed, great power, great arm), they make it because they performed well enough in the minors, (college or high school in very rare instances) which is quantifiable stat-wise. I find it hard to believe among all the "geeks" who design this game that they haven't taken exception to this glaring omission. I mean I consider stats trump about every new feature out in 15... time of day/night shadows, stadium colors, equipment, I mean really equipment, i would substitute every Nike wrist band for the depth of stats this game needs to have... PLEASE!

Thank you SCEA, for adopting my ideas for a Playoff feature and eventually an 'online franchise'. No credit needed to be given... I am just happy you are working towards it...

I don't get it... developers seem more concerned with not repeating the same crowd fan from row 7 to row 46... who cares, really, when the stats are what is important. And I mean real quality and realistic stats, kept for the duration. The consoles have more than enough space for this these days, please... I began my fascination with Baseball by reading through a Baseball encyclopedia, seeing the incredible stat lines. This is a huge part in the fun of baseball. SCEA has developed a great baseball sim, but without the stats (deep and career stats) it fails on the whole purpose of simulation.

Re: Sortable Season and Career Stats

Seriously...if everyone got what they wanted out of this game, there would be no need to produce the game on a yearly basis. Everyone would be happy.... but the dev's would be out of a job in no time at all. You get little additions to this game for a number of reasons. a) time b) cost c) just enough, to keep you coming back for more (hopefully).
If this company could give you 'everything' to make you happy...stats, roofs, weather delays, etc ,etc ........don't you think they would ? Certainly not if it meant they no longer had a job. It would be the equivelent of 'OOTP' producing quality graphics.....they would outsell The Show, but nobody would need to buy next years offering. You would have it all.
From this season, you will be able to carry over saves..... a potentially costly move by a dev, but much wanted, by the masses.
The dev's constantly tread a fine line, between what you want and what they want you to have. Thats business...get used to it, or don't buy, the choice is yours....

Re: Sortable Season and Career Stats

What I don't think most people understand, myself included until seeing it firsthand, is just how small the development team is.

They want to add all of these things each year. It comes down to priorities and how they are going to allocate their precious resources.

It is never about giving consumers a "taste" to keep coming back. In fact many times they add something in we request at CD even though it is not the Whole product they necessarily want it to be.

The top 50 icon was something we asked to be added and was put in last minute as well as editable contracts.

The last few years have brought new challenges for the team each and every year. We have had two new systems they had to develop for (vita, ps4), year to year saves and yet they still manage to keep improving the game.

Many of these things will be here in the near future, I'm sure. It was about 3 years into the ps3 life cycle that the HUGE jumps occured.

Re: Sortable Season and Career Stats

Imo it should of been the first thing added in the first year the game came out. I'm just as astonished that we still don't have it. Apparently it wasn't and hasn't been a top priority in years past. I too would trade all the upgrades of 15 (although appreciated) for complete stats.

all sports games waste so much time with online crap.
                            online ruined all sports games.
these games would be so much better if the developers didnt have to worry about the online gaming portion.

when a game from 2001 has better stat tracking its sad. especially for a stat junkie sport like baseball.

I think the problem with the ps3 was limited memory.
I think the hold up on the ps4 is the game is tied to the ps3 & vita.
That & the ps4 is still in it's infancy. Baby steps & all that lol

Does the PS3 have less memory than a computer made in 2000? High Heat 2001-2003 had superb stat tracking.
