    Hidden attributes???

Ok, there is no way that this game doesn't have hidden attributes. Can anyone confirm or deny this once and for all. I had a player with 67 contact and 55 power consistently outperform a player with 82 contact and 63 power over a span of 3 years on all hitting categories. Thanks

Sim. Actual gameplay seems pretty similar I guess.

I wish the true attribute values are hidden in the game, but there are no hidden attributes.

What you are seeing, random statistical variation, is what often makes difficult the separation of luck from performance due to ability. Continue simming the same players and you will see what I mean...

          What were their vision/discipline attributes?

Both pretty similar. I believe there was not more than a 5 point swing one way or another. I did 3 years...that seems like a good indicator to me. The player with worse attributes actually had a worse potential too

The hidden attributes are bundled with the comeback code.
Along with vision/discipline, clutch will also affect contact/power.
Who your teammates & what their attributes are & who your opponents & what their attributes are also matter.
Not to mention park factor. This is the beauty of baseball that the Show nicely captures, i.e. unpredictability.

Can you elaborate on what a comeback code is please

He's being sarcastic. I'm guessing you haven't been deep into some threads. There are a select few people who believe the game has a comeback code when they blow a 4 run lead at the end of the game.

Tongue in cheek comments like that certainly don't let this myth die. Just helps perpetuate it.

Yup, no doubt. Now someone will come in here and bring it up as question of sorts and that person will be routed by the regulars... Smh.

It's actually not just newcomers who believe in the existence of comeback code. Some regular posters including many PBUs seem to think sports games cannot reproduce the ebb and flow of events in sports unless they are forced and scripted somehow. That's definitely untrue and the games who actually resort to that type of mechanism simply is very poorly designed. The Show isn't one of them.

And that's why I actually don't appreciate somebody bringing the topic, even as a joke, into what could really be an innocent question by the OP. There has been enough entirely fruitless discussions on forced comebacks, and they are flat-out tiring.

I realize you did 3 years, but you only compared 2 players. It could be very well just be an anomaly.

I certainly apologise as I meant no harm.

On topic, I wonder if there is a stat to gauge "Intangibles",
as that would actually make for a nice hidden attribute IMO

It isn't a hidden attribute but I've suspected the hot and cold icons add or subtract to a player's attributes. It is possible the guy with lower attributes got hot and outperformed the other guy.

Pure speculation, nobody other than the devs would know that.
