I think it takes a lot more manpower and hours to create a stadium on the ps4 than the ps2 with all of the small minute details that the Sony San Diego crew is able to pick up.

My thinking was that they would create an exact copy of the open roof ballparks and just close the lid. Maybe that's the hard part.

Not quite that simple either because the closed rough creates different interior lighting that would have to be redone.

What game on the PS2 had this? Because if it made a PS2 it would have been on the PS3 and PS4.

It's not about hardware capability (anymore), disc space or programming ability. It simply boils down to resources and priorities.

2K7 (in 2K13 the Dbacks roof was closed. They were the only team with that though).........although it was done very poorly. Would still be raining inside Safeco when the roof was closed.

Retractable roofs were in MVP 2005.

It was only Safeco though right?

I only remembered Safeco for sure (might have been the year it opened?). Vaguely though Enron did as well but couldn't remember so I went back through the old threads here and no one at the time seemed to be able to confirm nor deny other stadiums with one.

I remember Safeco for sure cause it would actually close during the game. I don't remember if the other stadiums had options for open/closed.

Pleaseeeeeeeee please please give us the ability to create a stadium. God that would go such a long way to the replayability of the game when you are far in the future.

I'm sure it's a logistic nightmare with wall collision, memory, all that jazz, but to me, it would be used a lot more than a few new minor league parks.

This is just me speaking, but I don't think create-a-stadium will ever happen, on any game. There's just too much intricacy to them nowadays.

Just normal/simple customization tends to be a bit too overwhelming for the average consumer.

I believe All-Star Baseball also had retractable roofs. I remember playing in their future version of Citizen's Bank Park and it had a roof.

EDIT: Yep. ShowTyme is is right. All the regular stadiums have "roofs" along with Future Twins, Future Shea, and Future Yankee Stadium. (Maybe Future Marlins too.) All the expansion stadiums that are copies of these future stadiums, also have roofs.

Of course, these roofs are just patterned textures that, at most, have an arch shape to match the shape of the roof that the stadium has. Miller Park and the BOB don't even show a meeting point in the middle of the roof. They are just flat, solid textures with the weather turned off.

I'm going to go check and see...
You're right ASB did. Had future stadiums with retractable roofs along with the 6 original.
