I've never played the mode, but I thought I read that you are correct in that there aren't (extended) contracts, so once you 'use-up' the player--he gone.

May be mistaken, as I've never played the mode--just passing along what I read earlier.

Thats how it worked on last years game. This years game there is no contracts at all so once you get a player he is yours forever.
