    Will internet connection be necessary?

I have the game preordered but still need to buy a PS4 and mainly just getting it to play this, madden and NBA 2k.

However, we just moved house and it turns out we may not have any internet connection. I will have internet access at work though.

I don't really play online, mainly a franchise kinda guy.

Will internet connection be absolutely necessary to enjoy this game? Will there be large updates that NEED to be downloaded? Can I just download rosters onto a USB at work and then upload that at home?

Trying to decide if it is still worth getting this and buying a ps4 so any input would be much appreciated.

You'll need internet access for roster updates and patches. Otherwise you should be good to go if you don't play online that much.

This is for the Show. 2k will need internet access and idk about Madden.

I know for a fact 2k will require internet connection right out the box to download update. Also needs connection for daily updates and Myplayer/Myteam modes

What does 2k have to do with anything here?

Cant say whether or not you will NEED to DL an update. But I dont expect there to be a game breaking bug that would require you to do so. And i know on PS3 you could DL the rosters from a PC. Idk if yous till can for PS4 but i dont see why it wouldnt be possible still. So no internet is most likely going to be fine.

Is it possible to download rosters on a PC then transfer over on a USB?

Yea the main question of the thread is about MLB. I'll figure madden and 2k out later.

Last August, I bought my PS4 and The Show together. It was my only game at the time, and the first thing I tried to do after setting the PS4 up was to play. The game would not load until I did a system update on the PS4. As someone who cannot get broadband where I live (I use satellite and have severe bandwidth restrictions) I can sympathise. I had to wait until early the next morning when my allowance is greater during certain hours to take care of it.

I don't know if the same will still hold true this year, but it did for me.
Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.

If you are happy playing with SCEA's rosters (nothing wrong with them except that the majority of the minor league players not on the 40 man rosters are auto-generated) and are not concerned ever about patching the game once updates are available you will never need to be connected at all. However if you have a friend or a family member's home you could bring the PS4 console to and hook it up briefly to the net in order to download patches and rosters you will be good to go. Also there is no need to constantly update rosters once you start a season or a franchise. Season and Franchise modes only work on the initial roster set you decide to use once you start either mode.

I will have access to internet occasionally and can get some updates if needed but I would like to be able to download rosters whenever and was hoping that I would be able to download them on my PC and upload that via USB.

Your post makes it sound as though that won't be the case.

Can anyone confirm whether or not rosters can be downloaded onto a USB then uploaded onto the ps4?

Re: Will internet connection be necessary?

I know on my PS3 in past years I was able to use a USB thumb drive to upload some rosters into the game. But I have yet to try it on the PS4. I have been downloading rosters from the vault with my PS4 console. So I am of no help to you in this regard. Perhaps someone else has had success with this? I seem to recall chatter last year about problems using the USB drive on the PS4, but I could be mistaken.
