It's very unlikely to have an effect good or bad. Most TVs have a "Game" picture mode that generally helps cut down on lag a little bit.

I havent hooked it up to this new tv yet. I just wasnt sure if on the ps end, the more power amd processing made any difference for the tv.
I have the same set and have no issues. Best TV for gaming IMO.

Re: Input lag on ps4 version?

HDTVs do add input lag when compared to CRTs, but it is not always the TV's fault when it comes to input lag. A number of things can lead to it including controller latency or being due to software (in this case a video game). I think people get confused on what input lag is. It isn't just display lag (HDTV/LCD), but also a delay from the button being pushed and the video signal being sent from the console/PC. In the latter scenario even a CRT with 0 display lag would show input lag.

An example of a non-tv issue with input lag. They found a few ms difference by just turning off multicore rendering. http://eliteownage.com/counterstrikeinputlag.html

The most recent issue I can remember that was not due to the TV was GTA V on PS4 and Xbox One. People complained of input lag in both those versions and it was widespread, not just because someone had a TV with bad input lag. They did patch it though, but it's another example of input lag not being due to the display.

I notice it in MLB 14 a bit, granted I am really sensitive to it as I feel like I am a pretty good hitter in the game. If I try I am typically on the 1st page in CoTW. Granted that tiny delay might be due to my monitor, but it technically has input lag lower than that on a single frame. I was thinking of trying to take a few videos at 60 fps of my displays to see which one had the lowest input lag. The Show is the only game I really care about the input lag. Even in SFIV or other fighting games I typically play online and the added network lag their makes the lag on my end not really helping at all.

To the OP's point, that Sony TV is indeed a good one for input lag, just be sure you turn on Game Mode, cause that is where they measured it from. This is true of all LED/LCD TV's, turning on Game Mode is going to get you the lowest lag your TV can work with.

How do you turn game mode on. This is the first I've ever heard of it.

What about plasma tvs. Is the Input lag less than on a Lcd or Led tv ?

If the TV has the option it will be in its menu settings.

I game on plasmas and do not have issues with input lag.

And if it doesn't, disable as many post-processing filters as you can find. I was getting horrendous lag (about 1 sec.) from my 60" Sharp Aquos until I went in and turned off all of the filters. Now the lag is hardly noticeable, if it's even there at all.

Nemesis Do you use game mode setting on your plasma? I find when I use game mode the Color is off.

Agreed. "Input lag" or any kind of lag for that matter is non-existent on Plasma's.

I game on a 42" Panasonic Plasma and it is the best thing I could have purchased for gaming. Great picture, good sound, awesome black levels, no gaming issues.

Sadly though, Panasonic has stopped making Plasma's so I consider myself lucky to have gotten one when I did. The weeks of research and YouTube reviews really did pay off.

I've played The Show every year since 08, on the PS3 of course. I have played them all on the same tv. Have never noticed any lag. I'm worried it'll start now that I have a PS4

If you're just going from one console to another (PS3 to PS4) on the same TV, you should be fine.

Re: Input lag on ps4 version?

Question for you lag TV experts out there.

So I just purchased a PS4 for the upcoming release and went ahead and upgraded my 42" Sony Bravia TV (purchased 5 years ago) to a larger 60" Sony Bravia, 1080p, 120hz LED TV (Model: KDL60R510A). I opted to go with Sony because I've had great luck with gaming especially with the Show series on PS3. And the price was right. So far, the picture is great when calibrated to 1090p60 16:9. Baseball on MLB Network was ok, but not as crisp as I'd like it to be...might have to fool with the settings.

Given that this is basically a newer version of the same TV I had, I'm hoping that gaming on the PS4 will be great on it, too. Haven't tried it yet on the PS4, but was curious if anyone had any suggestions on settings/modes that optimize the gaming feature on these particular 1080p Sony TVs. Obviously "game" mode is said to have an impact - is this mandatory across the board? I felt like I rarely used it for PS3 gaming. Just used the default features.

Any other experiences/suggestions that you have would be great. And for any of you who own this particular Sony model TV, I'd love to hear from you, as well. I've read somewhat mixed reviews online so wanted to hear from The Show community directly.

                              Thx

I would say having your input on game mode is a necessity to alleviate the "lag" you see with games that require timing, such as "The Show". I own an LG smart tv and switched it to game mode and have not had any input issues while playing any games.
