My belief when it comes to pitch selection is to never be predictable, with one disclaimer: I rarely throw a changeup directly after a curveball.T-BONE.

True but I believe vs the CPU it is more about execution than anything. Online it is a different story. If someone can't hit a high fastball then I will keep throwing it. If you play a good hitter then yes become unpredictable.Comment

Lately, there's been one guy I've faced online who is able to steal bases at will. He'll retreat if I try to pitch-out, like cb7 mentioned . Hopefully the slide step will give pitchers a better chance next year.
Another way to hold a runner is to have your pitcher turn his head to look at the runner (R2 button - I think). While the pitcher is looking over, just tap the button and he'll throw over to first. If the runner is taking an extra lead, you can sometimes pick him off.Comment
