I wouldn't go that far and say that. His parents are my neighbors and they aren't particularly thrilled with the situation. The Cubs told all their players before Spring Training that anybody could win a job and Kris took that to heart and is proving he deserves to be there weather at 3B or in LF.

Cubs can keep that arbitration clock all they want.................it wont matter if he ends up burning them in Free Agency down the road anyways.

I think it has mostly to do with his agent, seriously. GM's hate dealing with Boras. Haaaaattte it. He's like a used car saleman that also happens to have the most sought after used cars. Theo has dealt with Boras before, he knows what will most likely happen, and he knows it is very likely Kris will leave Chicago, at Boras's urging, regardless of what happens to him in the next couple weeks, if he goes to AAA for a couple weeks or not. The player's union agreed to the silly rules for rookie status/free agency clock. Unfortunately this particular rule is not in the best interest of the player in many cases.

Boras is the primary reason the Cubs lost Maddux to the Braves, even though the Cubs made a great offer. Boras got Maddux to hold out for a better offer, and by the time Boras finally came back to the Cubs, they had moved on and spent the salary dollars elsewhere. Maddux took a smaller contract in Atlanta because the Cubs couldn't wait and play Boras's game all offseason.

Edit: Yes, Cub fans really, really have a sore spot for Boras for the Maddux result, even 20+ years later.

But I digress, in regards to Rookies not in the game come March 31st, I've actually read a couple stories indicating Yasmany Tomas may very likely be sent down to the minors to start with because of how unpolished he is. I haven't followed the Diamondbacks this spring, but apparently his defense is pretty rough. Rougher than Bryant's by far. Again, I haven't seen him play yet...

Ultimately, if the Cubs are smart with Bryant, as soon as he shows he's for real they need to throw him a long term contract offer that not even boras can say no to. Lock him up early for Stanton or cabrera type money and for a long time.

I have also seen reference that Arizona might send Tomas down to start the season. But I think what I am going to do with the Tomas's, the Bryant's and some of the other players mentioned here where I don't have good or any player ratings at all for them with my existing modified 2015 OSFM roster is still create these players next week when I get the game and ensure they are assigned to their team's 40-man rosters so that when I start my "Season" mode, they will be in the game. Then when the real OSFM rosters drop I can cross reference the ratings the more knowledgeable roster people have given these players and then they will be ready to join their respective 25-man squads if they are indeed playing in the majors in the real world (or of course if SCEA includes them in one of their rosters).

Oh and Hector Olivera needs to actually sign for a real world team before I can put him in my game ... haha, unless of course I can create him, assign him to a team, release him from the team and then he will be part of the free agent pool when I am in season mode? He does exist in the modified 2015 OSFM rosters sookiebunny released, albeit he shows up as a free agent. But sookiebunny's rosters does have player ratings for him.

Not trying to start a mini(good time!) riot....but Ramone posted an interesting tidbit in another thread.

They are exploring the possibility of patching in the ability to import players mid franchise.

NOTHING is promised....but it's being explored.

How friggin' great would THAT be?!!!!

Travis and Castro are not in my 2015 modified OSFM roster set at all and Iglesias is only a 55 (seems pretty low for a potential 5th man in the Red's rotation) and Micah Johnson is 67 (which may be fine). I am not all that worried about the player likeness and for the players in my 2015 modified OSFM rosters, I can just replicate the likenesses they had in that roster set. But are there any "realistic" recommendations for these four other players in terms of their ratings? Are there any other players I could compare them to and use the other player's ratings for these four?

Micah should def have upper 90s speed.

Just finished searching for all rookies who are still hanging around the big league teams and who did not make an appearance in 2014 in the majors. I've added one more player to the players already mentioned in this thread. I added Rockies SP Jon Gray who might just make the team now that Colorado has released Jhoulys Chacin.

Braves, Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers I know for a fact don't. Or really, the Frank Wren ran Braves didn't. Heyward and Freeman were both starting opening day.

It isn't set in stone that he won't make the opening day roster.

Obviously it is very unlikely, but you never know. He's not even on the 40 man though. The Cubs will have a lot of sorting out to do to get him on it.

I'm holding out hope that they simply make the highest offer at that point (November 2022) and keep him around if he's all that he looks to be. The money should be flowing in from the new TV contract (network?) by then.

As far as the Bryant thing goes, if he leads the Cubs to a championship he'll never wanna leave Chicago because he'll be treated like a god.

On him being sent down it may ultimately for money reasons. But being a Red Sox fan and watching Theo work his magic with the farm, his prospects usually average around 1,000 plate appearances in the minors before being called up. And right now Bryant is around 750 give or take 20. So he could go down to get more plate appearances before being called up.
