I couldn't stop thinking about how juxtaposed the things they were saying were to their total lack of enthusiasm. The intensity should be there.

I'd rather have readings that occasionally go a little over the top vs readings that are always subdued.

Yeah I would have liked a little more excitement as well. I wonder if I had hit a no doubter HR if the call would have been a little different. I doubt it though. Still I'm glad they acknowledged the achievement and got a special cutscene. When I tied Mark McGwire's 70 HR total, Matty V mentioned that I tied "Big Red" which was pretty cool. Also made a special mention when I tied 61.

Last night in the final games on the season I broke the single season RBI record of 191. I didn't get a cutscene or even a mention of it. I did when I tied it. When I broke the record it was done when I drew a bases loaded walk, so that's all the announcers could talk about. I made a backup save and tried to get the RBI another way to see if I got a cutscene but both times I broke it again was on a HR and the announcers just mentioned that I am extending my HR record. I might try some more to get a non-HR RBI to break the record since I still have the backup save.

Everything but the commentary. So lame the design don't change it from 06 and 07 for home runs. Shame on them!

But we are not there yet with technology. You still have scripts and read from them in a recording studio in most cases because you want different inflections and tones and takes. Then you categorize each of them for later. I think some games do record the broadcasters going ad-lib while watching the video game play out in front of them. But people still complain that it sounds repetitive and unenthusiastic.
We are close enough with the tech. I believe EA did this with NHL 15. The commentary in it isn't amazing, but it's not bad by any means. Presentation (all around, not just commentary) and new player models are the only two things I want for the game that would make it perfect for me.

I think we'll see some improvement now that Kirby has taken it over. Very excited to see what he can do with it.
