Quick question - sounds of the show

I just purchased a PS4 and noticed that I can't really add any sort of music with a flash drive like I used to be able to do on the PS3. If there is some way I can, please let me know.

So my question, am I able to add any of my own music on the PS4 so I can use it for this new game?

No. PS4 doesn't have that capability.

well that sucks. i just dont understand why this upgraded system does not allow me to do one of the great features that was on the last one (plugging in a flash drive and transferring music/videos).

I literally didn't even think about checking to see if this would be an issue on the PS4 because I just figured it was a given

We've all asked that question and the answer is simple... $$$

Sony wants you to pay for music services. They can give us our old features, like MP3 import, but there is no money in that like there is in charging for music unlimited or spotify.

That was a Sony decision. They now have the ability to play music from a thumb drive now but it was too late in the development cycle for SCEA to implement it into '15. I'm guessing it will be there in '16.

Spotify will support the free version on PS4.

And PS4's ShareFactory supports importing music to the console for use in that application. Not sure if game developers have access to the same functionality or not, but NBA, WWE, and MLB could really benefit from it.

Just because you don't have to pay to use Spotify doesn't mean that profit isn't being generated by having it on your console and by your using it. It is that profit that inhibits an option of storing your own media on the HDD for use in whatever ways you may wish.

This is something that I have been hoping for awhile. I know it's not SCEA fault, just wish it was available for both this title and the NHL series. Just adds so much to the game.

Heck, I wouldn't be opposed to getting a spotify membership if I was somehow able to use my spotify playlist in the game?

Off topic a bit, but does anyone know if Xbox One has this ability now? I know they were talking about adding this as well.

I have a strong feeling that SCEA will be able to find a way to implement it next year off the USB feature. My hope is that the copy to the HDD method gets released in a FW update. But there are a couple of reasons for my feeling that SOS will return next year regardless of method.

1) Ramone sent out a Sounds of the Show poll on OS a few months ago to see how many people are using SOS and how. He wouldn't have done that if they weren't considering it for next year. Ramone mentioned that they didn't have enough time to do this in '15.

2) While I totally agree Sony is all about additional revenue by preventing us to use the feature as it was on the PS3, they did allow us to play music off of our USB in FW 2.0...so if they wanted to totally keep us from playing our own music...they wouldn't have added that feature to begin with. So I think they left a crack in the door for SCEA.

3) The SCEA team had to focus on releasing the licensed equipment fixing DD, online, legends, etc this year that is very time consuming as they wanted to make it perfect. Though they did add commentary lines this year...the audio/commentary is getting pretty stale. I believe that now they will focus on revamping audio and commentary, including adding custom audio, in '16.

It pains me to no end that we will, once again, not have SOS. It is an amazing feature that SCEA has done a great job with that needs to return. I am in limbo as I've kept my PS3 and will buy the game on both versions...one for PS3 to use SOS and the PS4 for the incredible graphics and new features. I wish I could completely dump my PS3!!!!!

I hope you are right but i have pretty much given up on having SoTS like it was on ps3 for ps4.

Maybe if they are unable to get SoTS back to how it was they could create some music/sounds for us to use,maybe add to it each year.
I have ea's UFC and it has a heap of music you are able to use,yeah a lot of it is generic and cheesy but there is a lot of variety amongst it.
Otherwise i see no reason to leave it in the game,the dozen songs on the soundtrack just don't offer much to work with.

I just miss being able to make each stadium that little bit unique with sounds/music.
