New cutscene camera angles (button smashers will never see)
Stadiums and background have a 3D look with the higher resolution. (fantastic)
Batting stances/Pitcher windups really look great.

League updates on the main menu go a little to fast. One stat screen had the league leaders over the last 10 games. The screen changed so fast to another update, did not have the time to digest info.

Just my opinion, but I feel the base running as for as steals is off. Same as last year. I have not tried to adjust the BR sliders yet.

With a brief time playing The Show.....I am in the Field of Dreams!
Update on the league update screen. You can page up or down if you want to take a longer look at each screen. I missed that option yesterday.

This may or may not be new but playing the Dodgers vs Giants and with a man on 1st Bumgarner on the mound for SF as he goes into his windup his eyes glances over at the runner Crawford over on 1st base and then as he makes his move toward the plate to throw his pitch his eyes shifts back to the plate. Awesome awesome awesome!!!!

I have never seen this before. Check out the 1st pic with his eyes looking at the runner and the 2nd looking at the plate

Im getting plenty of photos up (taking requests) in the Photo/Vid thread but initial thoughts on the game?

        Gorgeous.

The new lighting adds an incredible amount to the game, as does the new grass and dirt colour, they look so much more life like than last year its like comparing apples and oranges

Been buttery smooth for me as well so far, cranked a triple off Doug Fister in my first AB on All-Star.

Loving the feel of it, this for me feels like the first Show entry into Next Gen, as '14 felt more like a PS3 version with some uprezzing.

More thoughts to come as i play

1 thing I noticed is that with loading up my mlb 14 franchise save there are some players that have been replaced with generic players, I was using the OSFM hybrid rosters for my franchise and it's some of the created players that have been replaced, kinda disappointing

More on the revamped presentation...my advice is NOT to button mash through everything if you want to enjoy this facet, its now nearly as good as if not as good as NBA 2K, widely renowned as the leader in that field, in my opinion, the changes have made that great an impact.

The blend of new camera cuts and different types of replay gives it a more TV broadcast feel than ever before.

It truly is a thing of beauty to relax and watch inbetween pitches now.

yes PB, agree. I wanted slowmode back last yr, but the balance between cutscences and gameplay this yr is what I wrote about being how tight and clean The Show is this year.

From what I can tell, its players that had been created for the OSFM roster but aren't still on their team in real life now, for example there's Ricky Romero and Raul Valdes on the jays and Dylan Bundy on the Orioles

Only played 2 games so far, busy week. But played a night game in Houston and the colors were amazing! The grass was so vivid and green. The color palette is warmer this year and that didn't come across as well in the streams as it will on your TV's at home.

It is a familiar game, but everything is smoother with how the animations in the field all take place.

I'm still looking for a decent fielding view/camera. It is way better than last year's options. I like how low the camera is, but wish there was more of a zoom as the ball heads to the outfield while keeping the POV low.

-Ball Boys down the lines in Houston were not really fielding grounders that were foul for some reason.

-Foul balls in general are still hard to pick up on. Wish the camera would follow nearly all of the foul balls to let me see where exactly they are going.

-Have hit 3 homers in 2 games, but haven't seen any celebrations. Was hoping to see the Buccos celebrate in the dugout. Will have to play some more.

-The tailing on a 4-seam fastball is awesome! Brings so much life to the pitch and the game.

-You'll wonder how you ever managed to live without real brands on equipment!

                    -Dirt and grass looks amazing.

-Helmets look great. But those uniforms need updating. Need some movement in the cloth and dynamic shirt action with buttons being undone. Wish they could update some of the throwbacks to ones that teams actually wear. Tired of seeing the same Pirates throwbacks. And for some reason they have the current Pirate patch on the sleeve of the 70's Sunday uniforms in the selection screen. Not sure if that patch is on the sleeve in the game though. That would be an error.

-Pitchers field too many balls off of the mound. It is really a small sample size, but I've seen a few broken bat shots where the pitcher was running to the baseline to catch the ball before it could land. Most pitchers let the fielders handle popups unless it is hit right to them on the mound or in front of them.

-Not enough extra base hits from balls smashed down the baseline into the outfield. The ball is cutoff by the corner outfielder again this year when they are rolling on the ground.

-Much better with balls hit over outfielder's heads, however. Have seen a handful of hits that are placed over top of the outfielder as they give chase. Makes the outfield play much better.

-Little too much opposite field power on homers. Most of them have been okay, like some are low liners that barely clear the wall. But perhaps just a tad too much oppo-field dingers. Time will tell.

-Am not seeing the dropped third strikes like last year. Which is nice. Not as many balls in the dirt.

-When the computer hits a line drive base hit to your outfielder that rolls fast once it lands and stays on the ground, I have had trouble making my player bend over to field the ball. 2 or 3 times I have walked right past it without attempting to pick it up. Looks like I have to figure that out.

-Balls hit to the infield are so fun to see now. All the smooth animations and transitions. It just looks like baseball.

bigwill - I have not had the pitchers fielding to many groundballs. I was actually thinking to many were going up the middle past the pitcher. It is always a balance, like you, I have not played enough for a solid opinion.

I always switch fielders when the pitcher goes after a popup.

I should note that they are not fielding the balls up the middle that are hit hard. I have yet to see a lined shot get knocked down or fielded actually. I hit a few singles right back up the middle on the ground and the pitcher pretty much just continued with their follow through or got out of the way almost. Which is good, imo.

But I am talking about those little bloopers on jammed batters that flutter off the bat. A few times I have seen the pitcher running over to the first base line in order to field that ball before it even hits the ground. The one time the broken part of the bat flew right past them as they made the out. It is way too early to be a concern, but just something that stood out to me.

I also take control of a fielder and sort of theoretically call-them-off on popups hit near the mound. But these instances were more of when I was batting against a CPU pitcher.

No point in rehashing what has already been mentioned on the first few pages.
Just to say that stadiums are the best they have ever been and the colours have taken a major leap forward since last year.

Couple of things that I have not seen mentioned.
                                1. For those of you who use quick counts, this is now working as featured with a lot less deeper counts and more 1-1 counts sprinkled in. I think this will be a far more enjoyable feature this year.

                                2. Maybe people knew about this previously from the vids posted by the devs but I hadn't watched any so these came as a major surprise to me.
When hitting and having the in play offense camera set to medium it actually replicates the dynamic camera off the bat except now it follows the ball! This is a huge change as now you can see where the ball goes off the bat before it cuts away to the outfield(Think pys).
                                Great Great addition...
