    Digital 100%

    ..because it's 2015, not 1999

      Re: Disc vs Download

I actually had a physical preorder for months and changed to digital about a week ago.

      Why?

Well, the midnight thing is part of it - GS isn't going to do a midnight release just for the Show here. But from a more practical standpoint, the only reason for me to buy physical would be the opportunity to trade the game in. For a game like The Show that I will play year-round, guaranteed, it's not going to worth the trade value once '16 rolls around. I also enjoy the convenience of not having to swap discs.

There are other games that are far more practical for me to buy physical copies of, that I can actual get value out of the trade in on.

I just like the vague phrasing of "always issues". Right after the big point was hard drive space. By all means, buy whichever version you like, I'm not trying to convince you one way or the other.

I'm going digital, as I do for most games. I don't know that I've ever traded in a game in my life, so the convenience of digital far outweighs the potential resale value that I just don't care about.

I'm going Digital for a few reasons. I never sell the Show. I want to be able to play at midnight, which I can do because PS4 lets you pre-load. And I play the Show all summer (at least) so I like not having to switch the disc for it every time I play something else.
Will the download and install for the disc version require an internet connection?

            I do not believe so.

I hated Digital as the start of PS4, and would only get physical. I now owe over 6 games full digital. I have only made one mistake buying a game I hate, and now i cannot return or sell it. I have not used my PS4 disc drive in months. I say get use to digital games, because that is the future. PC gamers are used to digital games, and soon so will console gamers.

Yea it sucks not owning a real copy of it, but we got to get used to it. Everyone I know hates baseball so I will not be lending it out

As a sort of meta, buying predominantly digital also makes me me a bit more judicious with my purchases - since I know that I cannot sell them, I really try to only buy digital games that I know I will play and enjoy for a long period of time.

The physical games are typically my "reaches" - and those have become a lot less frequent lately. Watch Dogs was a good example - I did get my $60 worth out of it, but once I was done with single player and multiplayer went in a direction I didn't like, I was still able to trade it in and get good value for it.

I'm doing the same with Mortal Kombat coming up - in fact that's kind of replacing the physical Show copy I was going to be getting.

I'm trying to do the same thing. Pretty much only going digital for series and sequels and such. I know I'll love The Show, so I go digital. As much as The Order looked amazing, I went physical because it's completely new.

I feel like its the way to go

I don't no what the issues were. People just keep saying there was issues with it last year. Now that I have been reading about it though, I think I might try just downloading it. It seems people aren't to worried about it and a lot of you guys are saying your not having any problems with downloads.

The Playstation store doesn't always update very early, so last year it took almost a whole day to download 14 digitally. But Pre-loading takes all those "issues" away

So it wasn't issues with the game, it was issues with the store. I got it.

I pre-ordered Battlefield: Hardline and preloaded it this year with no issues whatsoever. It started preloading for me at 1pm local time on the Sunday prior to the game coming out. I have pretty fast net so it only took a few hours to finish.
I was then able to fire the game up at 11pm local time on Monday night since the lock came off at 12am eastern. That was pretty awesome and it should be the case for The Show this year.

There is that psn 10% off games this weekend deal which probably closely matches the trade in value of mlb 14 so I will probably go "digital".

                              That won't work for pre-orders.

What would happen if your PS4 stopped working and you have mostly digital games? Just remove the hard drive and put it in a new system or is everything lost?

                                I prefer physical copies myself.
