Re: Pure analog...
I haven't been keeping up with these forums too much until recently, so when I booted up the game last night and used pure analog, I thought it was a bug that I couldn't pre-load the power swing! Maybe they should at the very least just change the name from pure analog to just analog or something.OS Vets Co-Commissioner:

Re: Pure analog...
No idea what got into the devs, finally got the chance to try this and while my hitting is alright after few games they removed the fun from analog hitting..Spending time with Jesus!

Re: Pure analog...
cts50, we're using stride as a timing mechanism. If sony wanted they can keep the flicking up on the stick for a slap hit thats fine..tony gwynn style. But for a normal contact or power swing you need to stride and time your swing..flicking the stick up seems like it should be used as a slap hit or a slap bunt. Listen, Sony just dumb the hitting down for casual gamers thats it...this year hitting isn't as realistic and less of a simulation of baseball than previous years....theyve taken a step back.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
Look, all I want is a real explanation as to why they removed Pure Analog. I have been following the threads regarding this over the past few months and, as someone wrote here earlier, Ramone's responses were more or less just nonchalant and dismissive. I just want to know the truth behind the decision to remove it. It's gotta be something more than "it was too hard for some people so we took it out." Makes no sense.
I've only had a chance to play two games last night after work (on PS3, mind you). I played both with analog + directional hitting, and pulse pitching, on dynamic difficulty. My timing was off at first, but it didn't take too long for me to get used to the hitting controls, although it was on Dynamic Rookie, so perhaps that's why I was making contact. I will try out Zone + Analog tonight. I do miss Pure Analog though...Comment

Re: Pure analog...
The swing mechanic is the same as the one that 2k baseball used. I'm not surprised no one else knew that seeing as I'M THE ONLY ONE EVER THAT PLAYED THAT GAME!!!! LOL
seriously though they knew that game blows why steal their swing mechanic? If your gonna jack an idea from them take the analog pitching motions that was actually kinda cool.
It's taken me no time at all to get used to the new mechanic -- I'm crushing the ball -- but I am feeling some type of way about the change. I'm relatively new to The Show, and I spent a lot of time last year looking up tips and practicing to perfect "Pure Analog". It took me quite a while but I got to the point where I got "good" and "perfect" timing on everything, and now all of that effort seems for naught.
Just not quite seeing the upside of the change other than making hitting easier, but what's the point of that? I liked the skill that it took to synch up your stride with your swing.
Edit: and you're right about that analog pitching mechanic from 2K. That was the business. I'd love to see that make an appearance."A man can only be beaten in two ways: if he gives up, or if he dies."Comment

Re: Pure analog...
Although I miss the old way, this new version isn't that bad for me. Since I really don't see a difference between Pure Analog and Analog+Directional, I'm going with the latter.
It still feels weird, though. It doesn't feel like I'm driving the ball, just slapping at it, slapping homers and gappers all over the place.
I think I'll hit better because I practiced with button timing on MLB 14 after it was announced that Pure Analog was taken out. Now, I can concentrate more on where the pitch is going. This is why I was able to beat Phil Niekro last night.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
Not going to buy this years version now they've removed this, the 'improvements' aren't significant enough to justify it minus pure analog. As people have touched on its out of character for Sony with this franchise, dissapointed they were dismissive with their customers views on this....bad form.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
So disappointed in this still. If you want to make it more accessible, just put an option under timing hitting. Timing with buttons or timing with analog stick, because timing is all the old Pure Analog is now.
So, the majority didn't use it? Who cares. The majority doesn't play on HOF or Legend, will you take those out next year and everyone has to play on Rookie, Veteran or All Star because not enough people were using the others?
Man, I sometimes got so frustrated with the stride but at the same time LOVED IT, the frustration is what makes it GREAT and CHALLENGING. The Show is somewhat built on frustration, who remembers all the old baseball games where after you got used to it you could dominate on any difficulty level and got unrealistic stats. Frustration is struggling sometimes no matter how hard you try, which just makes the successes more rewarding.
Nothing felt better than timing your stride perfect, timing everything perfect and crushing a HR or hard gap/down the line extra base hit. And Pure Analog was as close as you could mimic an actual swing with a game controller.
I love almost everything else they did with 15, but man, this one is HUGE and I feel we're not getting the whole story.Last edited by supervelous; 04-01-2015, 02:28 PM.Comment
