Well, last night I tried going back to the new pure analog, before I didn't realize it was any different than directional w/ analog. Did quite a bit better hitting. Still not as good as it was but I think I can live with it.

Re: Pure analog...
Add me to the list of disappointed individuals.
I understand removing the stride mechanic, but why did you change the power swing option to pulling back and pressing forward on the stick instead of selecting 'X' like past games?
Pulling back on the stick helps with timing and now that is completely out the window.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
I don't think it comes down to people needing to get "used to it". It's just plain too easy and simple now. I also had an adjustment period but now that I'm adjusted its too simple and too easy compared to past pure analog with stride.I struggled with the new way at first but am coming around to it now. I used to struggle with my timing having a stride and swing but didnt like any other way of hitting.
Im sure I'll get even more comfortable with no stride now, just an adjustment but it's less movement and easier to focus... once you mentally time your stride.
It's easier than it sounds, try a couple HRDs to get a rhythm and it will become more natural.
Pure analog with stride was a challenge with the added bonus of being about the closest you could get to swing mechanics with a game controller.
Now I have to either find a new batting method. Or come to grips with the fact I am now using timing hitting, just with a stick instead of buttons.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
Started my first game last night and was stunned that the stride was removed! Im a life long baseball player and the stride best replecated loading your swing before you uncoil. Now analog is the same as timing= boring.
Please put stride back in! Can't believe you guys removed the best gameplay feature you had!Comment

Re: Pure analog...
I've bought every version of the show since pure analog was introduced. I learned to hit using pure analog. I guess if I had learned on zone this wouldn't be a big deal but it is to me. All the new bells and whistles of the game are great I'm sure but they aren't enough for me to buy 15 without my pure analog hitting.
Reading all these post just fuels my disappointment in the developers.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
The thing I don't get is, even if the percentage of people who use pure analog is very small as Ramone said, you know that there are going to be a percentage of people who will be upset enough about this to not purchase the game. You're guaranteed to lose some sales, there have been a lot of people just in this thread who said they're skipping 15. And "simplified pure analog" was not exactly a selling point from this game, it wasn't featured in promotion at all, so it's not like this is going to bring in new customers either.
Conversely, there was nobody who was saying "I'm not going to buy the game this year if they don't change Pure Analog hitting" lol. Casual fans use button hitting, it's always going to be that way.
So no matter how you look at it this is a headscratcher, because there are no discernible benefits to messing with this.
Cliffs:
- lose loyal customers who loved Pure Analog even if they were a minority
- not bring in any new customers to counteract that because casuals gonna casual and don't care about Pure Analog hitting anyway
- What was the point of this again?Comment

You should be their marketing rep Madden cause apprently Sony doesn't know what the heck they are doing removing this feature. Common sense was out for lunch when this decision was made to take out pure analog.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
Well apparently none of the devs used pure analog. Did SCEA have a quick survey a fridayafternoon at the office when they came to this decision? Yeah whatever gimme a beer...Comment

Re: Pure analog...
This is the issue. Many have commented how they are reluctantly "getting used to" the new scheme and starting to hit adequately - but they are not having as much fun.
Until now, when new schemes were added, old schemes remained. This could've been called "One Touch Analog" and would've presented a nice casual contrast to Pure Analog.
But as it so often goes, we were all dumbed down to the least common denominator.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
If they stole the analog mechanics from 2k that would change the world lol since this is my first time actually owning the show, the controls definitely have a learning curve and there are controls for everythingComment

Re: Pure analog...
I wish I read the threads on this site more beforehand. I just played a game on 15 and the new pure analog system stinks. It's timing hitting with a stupid flick now.
I'm returning this game first thing tomorrow. I'm so disappointed
I remember the ads for 11 with Kevin Butler showcasing the pure analog feature. That's when I was hooked. And now I feel cheated. UGH.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
I posted earlier about my disappointment, but I can assure there was a reason behind it.
I'll give Ramone and his team the benefit of doubt every time due to the passion they display for the quality product they put out every year as well as the fact that they really do listen to the community where most things are concerned.Comment
