So way back with the All-Star Baseball series, I believe 2005, had an expansion mode, where you picked a city to place a new team into, and the computer picked summer another franchise into the league and kept the number of teams even. The expansion teams did the expansion draft, selecting players that other teams didn't protect. You picked a pre-made ball park, team name, and the like. It was a great mode and I absolutely loved it. That was my favorite none MLB the Show baseball game ever, even over the MVP series as this mode was so intriguing and I invested so much into it. Well, now that The Show has year to year saves, it would be awesome to take my expansion team and build it over the years into a power house, transferring the save year to year. I would love to see this mode show up in the show next year and take it with me ever year. Is something like this possible?

Dunno if its possible(Im not that knowledgeable with video game programing) but its something I hope they can and will add in.

I was 9 when that happened but I remeber that too. It was really cool to see that, and again in 98 with the D'backs and the Devil Rays. It was really cool to see how that was handled and see the starkly different path those two franchises took over the years.Comment

I've always hoped for this kind of mode following the PS2 and XBOX generation, but it appears it won't happen. Mainly due to the fact of the incredible size assets take up in today's games. There were over 50 stadiums in ASB 2005, however they all probably took the size of less than 1 PS4 stadium.
The size of graphics and assets are also why we don't see great features like retractable roofs (like in the MLB Power Pro series) Rain delays, rainouts (like in MLB 2K7), live action highlights of other games (NFL 2K5)
Hope I'm wrong but the high-definition age makes the size of these graphics prohibitive for any of these features to make a return. They stopped showing up once PS3 and 360 hit the scene.Last edited by baconbits11; 04-01-2015, 01:18 PM.Comment

Ever since Madden has it in the season the Houston Texans joined I've been hoping games would adopt this as a mode. It probably isn't much of a draw though, so other modes will obviously take precedence.Comment

Pretty sure they actually sad no to relocating teams. Don't know what the stance is on brand new expansion teams.
I mean if the MLB is fine with Diamond Dynasty then how different is expansion from that if you take out the cards? You're creating a team, making uniforms, picking a stadium, taking players from all over the league, etc.Comment

Expansion Mode was pretty awesome on ASB. I generally don't like fantasy draft franchises, but with expansion, it was just your team and the rest of the league was still basically the same. It really made you feel like you were building something from scratch. If they were to implement an expansion mode along side a stadium creator with upgrades you could earn over the years I really think it would be a successful mode.

instead of making it a separate mode, why not add it to franchise mode? make it an option when you start your franchise if you want to use an existing team or create your own.Comment
