I've reached mid May playing every game. And after starting the year off with a 12-9 record in April, we started off very badly in May. Lost 3 of 4 to Toronto, and then lost 2 of 3 @ Kansas City. I had a 4 game losing streak at one point. Managed to take two of 3 against the Twins, and am now about to play a rubber match against the Cardinals at home.


With Trevor Bauer still on the DL for a couple more weeks I have inserted Shawn Marcum in his rotation spot. He is 0-1 4.24era 17.0ip in three starts. I'm getting ready to pitch his fourth start now, he has the blue snowflake so I'm not very optimistic against the Cards lineup.


Royals and I are tied for the division lead. They are 19-17, and I am not 17-15. Tigers are right behind us at 17-18, with the Twins (15-20), and White Sox (13-21) bringing up the rear.




MLB roster moves


4/21- SP Trevor Bauer to 15 day DL (dislocated shoulder); Recalled SP Shawn Marcum from Triple-A


5/6- Optioned 3B Giovanny Urshela to Triple-A (couldn't hit with him); Recalled SS Zach Walters from Triple-A. I love the move already! He's an early .313 1hr 2rbi 2bb in 16 at bats. Like Aviles and can play all over, but has very good power.


5/8- Optioned RP Scott Atchison to Triple-A (Was 2-2 5.63era and declining fast); Recalled RP Carlos Marmol from Tripe-A

Carlos Marmol completely turned my bullpen around in a good way. He's been a beast so far. In 4 games he's pitched 5.1ip 5k (8.44 k/9), and hasn't allowed a single hit or walk! His bb/9 is 16 so I'm thrilled with no walks.


I lost Mike Aviles for 1-2 months with cartilage damage in knee. Zach Walters will be taking any roles in the linup starting or on the bench for Aviles.


With Aviles on the DL now I'm so tempted to bring up Francisco Lindor, however SS Jose Ramirez is playing too good that I couldn't give Lindor any playing time and feel right about it.


So for now I will bring back Urshela who I optioned earlier in favor of Walters. He started the year on the 25 man roster. Batting .143 going 5 for 35 batting.


I just swept the Rangers on the road with some very good/dominant pitching from my starters. Kluber wnet 8 innings and only allowed one run in the series finale.


I'm 20-16 and have a 1.5 game lead over the Royals (20-19) and 2 game lead over the Tigers (19-19).

Ended 82-80 with the White Sox. Was behind 2 games behind Royals for 2nd wild card spot with three games left against Tigers. I went on to win all three and they won only one of their games against the Twins. I had to play a winner take all game for the second spot. I went into the top of the ninth down 2-0 with Abreu leading off. He walked and Peter O'Brien, a young catcher I acquired from the Diamondbacks, hit a two run blast to tie the game. In the tenth, Eduardo Nunez got a two out double, and Adam Eaton came up clutch with a single up the middle. We won 3-2 and I now have to play Baltimore in the wild card which should be exciting.

When setting up a 30 team control franchise using a 25 man roster, how do you go about doing that? Can someone give me a checklist on how to set it up properly? Adding players back, what to do with injured players and so on. Thanks in advance.

(For the part in bold i need some help. Players are automatically ineligible for post season play when they test positive for PEDs now. Do the playoff games still count towards their suspension even though they cant play in them anyway? If we made the Playoffs and played in 8 games. Would Scooter be eligible for game 1 next year or would it not matter like i think and he still have to sit out the 1st 8 games?)

Yes they do count towards the suspension. For example Chris Davis last year was suspend 25 games for taking adderall. If the O's would of been able to win one game in the ALCS he would of been eligible to play as he was added to the roster for the series. But since we got swept he had to sit out opening day this year to serve the last game of his suspension.

I did not know that. I went and searched it. Here is an ESPN article that talks about Jenney Mejia suspension and in it says players suspended now for the PED usage are not eligible for playoffs should their team make it.

Just lost Bautista for 2 months in mine. Going to give Junior Lake some time in RF now with Colabello picking up some starts and Moreland getting some time in RF to get Smoak in more. Currently 33-30 but in 4th in the AL East due to some good play from everyone else

As August rolls on, the NL ERA leaderboard has a new head man. Mat Latos has come up to overtake Kershaw. Unfortunately for Latos, he also suffered a 3-4 week injury in his last start.

Kershaw has slipped down to a 1.96 ERA. Latos is at 1.79. In fact, there's been a surge in starting pitching production in the NL. Boeve's 2.50 ERA is barely in the top 10 right now.

In the AL ERA race, A's A.J. Griffin is secure with a 1.92 ERA.

September call-ups will be here sooner than later. Here's some guys that look like shoo-ins (or at least should be) for September action when rosters expand.

SP Tyler Glasnow (PIT), 23, AAA, 82/A
Glasnow features an explosive cut fastball that hits the upper 90's, along with a power curve that comes in around 85. His slider and change-up can be inconsistent and he doesn't use his fledgling two-seam fastball much, though it, too, will hit upper 90's. Control might be what the Pirates are waiting on, but otherwise, Glasnow looks like he deserves some September looks.

SP Roger Villafuerte (SF), 23, AAA, 84/B
There's just nothing left for Villafuerte in AAA. His stuff features late movement that makes it very difficult for batters to square up their swings, inducing a lot of weak contact. He pitches aggressively and that keeps him in the zone a lot, lowering walk totals. Should batters manage some hits against him, not unlikely given that he pitches to contact, he's able to keep his cool and avoid going into panic mode on the mound. The only thing that seems to be stopping Villafuerte from being in the rotation NOW are the (lucky) seasons that Brady Rodgers and Mike Montgomery have posted.

SP Dace Kim (LAD), 25, AAA, 81/A
The pitcher theme continues, this time from the Dodgers. Admittedly, Kim has been a late bloomer to this point and reaching his max potential might not happen. Still, Kim's pitches are well refined, consisting of a sinking fastball, a curve, and a change-up. The Dodgers must see something that keeps Kim in AAA, but it looks like he's ready to get something of a try out based on his raw skills.

SP Jeffrey Erksin (COL), 23, AAA, 85/A, Top 50 prospect
The Rockies have a ridiculous rotation, so it's not quite so surprising to see Erksin stuck looking in. Still, it's also hard to see Erksin being the odd man out for much longer. Erksin has rapidly developed and has developed his three pitches to devastating effect. His fastball comes in around 96 MPH while his change and slider have sharp snap to them late in the zone. Harnessing his movement is about all that's left for him to do. He projects to a #2 at the minimum and is well on his way to reaching that ceiling

SP Edwin Diaz (SEA), 22, AAA, 82/A
Speaking of teams with a ridiculous amount of pitching, the Mariners have a full staff of pitchers that could be #3 or better on many other rotations. That's what holding Diaz in AAA. Otherwise, his tailing 95 MPH fastball and solid offspeed would likely be seeing time in the majors. Perhaps Diaz can use this time to mature a bit mentally, because there's not much else left for him to do in the minors.

2B/OF Tony Kemp (TOR), 25, AAA, 78/B
Finally, a hitter on the board. While Kemp might not look very impressive at first glance, he has some enticing skills. His range is good enough to play any outfield position and he's twitchy enough to play up the middle with quick feet. He's pretty average at the plate, but anything he connects with is a threat for at least a double. He should be a good base stealer as well.

2B/IF Victor Ramirez (BOS), 23, AAA, 79/A
Another hitter and a good one in the making. Victor has major league power potential, and vs RHP, it shows up with regularity. In fact, against right-handers, Victor is very comfortable at the plate and does a lot of damage. What doesn't leave the yard could very well be a double, either by banging it off the wall or by hustling and stretching singles. Against southpaws, however, he has much to learn and may never look completely comfortable against them. Even then, he could be a bunt option so he could make a productive out from the bottom of the order against lefties. Defense is a bit of an issue, so he'll probably be limited to 1B for now if he gets the call, but he could handle 2B without being a complete butcher in the field.

C Austin Hedges (BOS), 24, AAA, 79/A
Given how old and worn out Pierzynski and Ross are for the BoSox, it's hard to figure out just why Hedges isn't already playing at Fenway. Instead, the Red Sox have added Christian Vazquez to the roster. Vazquez has a better pure arm, but Hedges' arm is almost a strong and accurate and he fields the position better and has a higher ceiling so challenging him could pay off much more. Hedges is more fluid behind the plate in blocking pitches as well as handling junk hits and bunts around the plate. Offensively, neither Hedges nor Vazquez will be very impressive.

Not to interesting of an off season for us. Kyle Lohse retired after his injury. We signed Josh Johnson to a 2 year 10 million dollar deal with a club/player option for a 3rd year at 5 million.

We let Aramis Ramirez leave in free agency. He went to Philly on a 2 year deal for 18.6 million. That left us with a hole at 3rd base but we didnt have the money to do anything about it. With Jason Rodgers being the best option in the organization we decided to move Segura to 3rd base and let Luis Sardinas play SS.

Going into the spring we pretty much knew what most of the team would look like. Starting rotation was set. 7 1/2 of the position players were set. We needed to see who was gonna start in LF. Would Khris Davis take charge and finally prove to be useful or would Gerardo Parra take it over again. We also needed to see who would start while Scooter Gennett finished serving the last 8 games of his suspension. Last was figuring out the long reliever and a few BP spots.

Davis completely out performed Parra. Davis hit .286 with a .352 OBP, 4 HR and 9 RBI with 0 errors. Parra hit .227 with a .244 OBP, 2 HR, 6 RBI and 3 errors. So Davis will start the year in LF.

Jason Rodger hit .295 (.455 off of LHP) with a .371 OBP a HR and 8 RBI. He will play 3rd base while Gennett is out. Not sure what we will do with him after those 8 games. We will start with an 8 man BP but if he plays well we may just send down a reliever and keep him on the roster as a back up 3B/1B.

For the BP. Hiram Burgos won the LR role. He had a 3.38 ERA in 16 IP. And after the way he played last year replacing Lohse i have faith in him if we need a spot start for some reason. Manny Parra didnt give up a run in 8 innings, Broxton had a 0.64 ERA in 14 innings.Neal Cotts a 0.60 ERA in 15 innings. Jeremy Jeffress had a pretty bad spring. 6.14 ERA in 7.1 IP. Gonna give him a chance though. If he starts to suck ill bring up Rob Wooten who had a 1.40 ERA in 19.1 IP. Logan Schafer won a back up OF spot. Elian Herrera won a back up IF/OF spot. And Martin Maldonado will be the back up catcher.

We open up the season in Chicago then head to Cincinnati before our home opener against Cleveland.

Re-started with OSFM V2 + pitch edits; just occurred to me, a cool way to keep spring training fresh is to treat every game like a split-squad game. Game 1 features lineup A, game 2 features lineup B; game 1 features a "real" starter, game 2 features a long-reliever or AAA type starter, so on and so forth to the point where every game's makeup is radically different from the next, and where basically everyone on the 40-man plays about half the games. I'm in oddly no rush to get to the regular season and it'll be neat to see how the stats play out doing it this way, too.

Braves summer grind starts now

Coming off a World Series win (a magical run on the backs of our pitching and clutch hitting), I wanted to establish a dynasty that has never been seen before. This Braves dynasty would be known for winning championships and not choking in the playoffs. As July approaches I thought I would give an update on the season and future of the team.

Currently leading the NL East at 42-31. 2 games ahead of the Nats. Once again my team is built on pitching, pitching, and more pitching. After being named the World Series and Postseason MVP in 2015 , Julio Teheran might be adding another award to his trophy case. The CY Young! He is currently the favorite due to his amazing season so far. 10-2, 1.6 ERA, leading the league in K's, IP, and SO. He is the leader of a talented staff that is the backbone of my team. A problem for me last year was the bullpen. No doubt the weakest part of my team I focused on adding solid, vet arms for another playoff run. Here is my full staff breakdown..

Julio Teheran 10-2, 1.60 ERA.
Alex Wood 5-4, 3.55 ERA.
Shelby Miller 8-5, 2.9 ERA.
Mike Foltynewicz 7-6, 3.27 ERA.
Matt Wisler 3-8, 4.1 ERA <------------ (WEAKPOINT).

Bullpen:

Closer- Shae Simmons 1-0, .97 ERA, 24 Saves
Setup- Tony Watson 2-1, 2.2 ERA. 2 Saves
MRP- Brad Zeigler 1-2, 2.8 ERA.
MRP- Ivan Nova 1-0, 2.11 ERA
MRP- Jacob Lindgren 2-3, 3.4 ERA
MRP- Tony Sipp 1-3, 3.97 ERA
Longman- Cody Martin 1-2, 3.88 ERA.

As you can see I have a strong staff and bullpen but I have 2 weakpoints. Matt Wisler just isnt performing well. Manny Banuelos is pitching well and if Wisler has another bad outing, ManBan is replacing Wisler. Another problem is my lefties. Tony Sipp was VITAL to my Championship last year, he was no doubt our best reliever. But this year he struggles against righties. A lot. Jacob Lindgren is a talented rookie w/ potential but he is inconsistent. Cody Martin is also inconsistent and probably not a MLB pitcher. I am thinking of calling up a setup guy from AA. He is a guy I drafted with a ton of velocity (98+) but shaky command. If i call him up I would shift Lindgren to the LRP role. Im gonna give it a few more weeks until I make a move in regards to the bullpen.

My lineup is solid. Anchored by Freddie Freeman, we are slightly above league average in every stat except HR's. Markakis has traded pop for average and Simmons (10 homers last year) hasnt hit one this year. Neither has Bethancourt. The player with the 4th most HRs on my team is Jackie Bradely Jr who is a bench guy who occasionally starts. To give my bench some more pop, I traded Alberto Callaspo and a C prospect for Mark Trumbo. Even if my lineup doesnt hit dingers we still score with average and small ball (steals and bunts). EYJr and Mallex Smith both get on base a lot and steal a ton. Andrelton is almost hitting .300 and Cameron Maybin is hitting a solid .270 w/ 4 HRs. Solid lineup that scores enough but when you have a dominant staff you dont need that much run support.

What I do is, every 2 months I go through everyone's rosters are re-set the line ups if it was changed a lot by injuries or cpu changing them. Hope that helps a bit.

Cubs fan but can never commit to grinding through with them..May go with the South Siders being my wife stepson and mother in law are Sox fans, maybe it'll make it easier to play out? Or maybe I'm just THAT weird. Jury's out still lol.

Cubs fan but can never commit to grinding through with them..May go with the South Siders being my wife stepson and mother in law are Sox fans, maybe it'll make it easier to play out? Or maybe I'm just THAT weird. Jury's out still lol.

I had this problem too. I'm an Indians fan but I've never really got into a serious franchise until this year. The key to any franchise is just getting through that first month. Basically once you make it to Mother's Day its much easier to stick with that team. You start seeing stats, injuries, tough roster decisions to make. You become invested.

Year to year saves is a big reason why I have beem able to play with the Indians. I'm not expecting to win a World Seried in 2015 but I wanna build the team and get there soon.

Also, since you follow that team closely It's fun to compare your stats with real life. Jose Ramirez is doing terrible IRL. Ramirez is batting .320 in my season as my leadoff guy.

I brought up Zach Walters to replace an injured Mike Aviles. Boy oh boy what a treat! He's batting .359 4hr 10rbi. He took over cleanup and every day player. Brandon Moss is now on the bench.

You have to play a lot though to get invested. I play every game and I'm at the end of May now. Tigers and I are tied for first. Have fun!!

Making it to the draft is important as well. Once you draft a guy that looks like he can be a star you want to play multiple seasons.
