Need a little veteran help with fielding

As mentioned in another thread, this is my first year back to the series after a few years off. Here's the issue I'm having.

I'm using the fielding controls where you press the button corresponding to the base you want to throw to. It seem no matter how long I hold or tap the button 90% of the time my guy will field the ball, then take his time with it before getting the throw off towards the base. I've given up 3/4 infield singles because of it, and I was trying to troubleshoot my way through it, but obviously I'm not making any progress. Any help would be appreciate.

Sounds like you're not preloading the throw. Are you waiting until the fielder receives the ball to hit the throw button?
