    Hitting Woes

I'm playing on default All Star directional hitting and I'm struggling. I get 6-10 hits per game, but they're mostly singles and I've yet to hit a single home run (or really get close) in the 5 or 6 complete games I've played. In fact, the only HR I've hit at all was in practice mode. I have a handful of doubles. I'm not guessing the pitch or location, which I read is supposedly just like timing hitting of years past. However, it doesn't have the same feel at all. I'm also having hard time discerning speed differences using the catcher 2 cam, which I've always used. This results in my swinging at terrible pitches.

Any tips? Are you guys using directional guessing the pitch and/or location? Is that the key? Am I correct in saying the ball isn't as visible this year?

Try catcher cam zoom 3. I was having trouble also until I switched to this cam, which was suggested by someone else in another thread.

I am not at all-star difficulty yet as I started trying out directional at Veteran. Now in my new RTTS I have set it to dynamic and when it got to Veteran+ I locked the progression there while I work on getting my timing down and getting used to recognizing the pitches. If I start killing it then I will unlock the progression and let it jump up another level or two.

I never use the directional control unless there is a reason for me to try and influence where the hit goes.

I haven't played the Show in 8 years (my team was horrible, and was embarrassed to use them all these years).

But with a PS4 and a need for new games, I got it this year and went back to beginner. I've played countless baseball games going back to NES, and never went 8 years without a baseball game.

And I felt like a total scrub. So I bit the bullet, bumped down to beginner and I'm making my way up. Beginner is too easy, and I scored 15 runs in the first inning, and bumped up to experienced/rookie.

I'm still struggling with timing and keep swining too early. But the dynamic hitting is slowly getting my timing back.

Best advice is try some new camera angles and just watch a bunch of pitches. Even a few at bats. Just get the feel for different pitchers, wind ups, breaking points.

I was in the same situation. Struggling big time on All Star with default sliders. Only managing 1-2 runs a game.

So I switched camera angles while batting to Pitcher Center. It is one of those camera angles behind the pitcher. I've never played a baseball game with a different camera for batting other than catcher cam. For whatever reason I can pick up the ball better and it seems the pitches are slowed down a bit. But I'm hitting and seeing the ball alot better which I find actually to be quite odd.

You get so caught up in your old routines in the game sometimes you just gotta switch it up and try something new.
