Re: Please allow us to edit other players in RttS.
The generated players always just look so ridiculous lol
They need to just face scan a ton of actual humans, whether they be devs, high school/college athlete volunteers, or just people off the street, and use those scans for the generated players. -

I would be able to deal with it if he just had the blonde hair but the eye brows and that stache! **sigh** I just have to accept maybe he has a Dennis Rodman complex or style.Comment

Re: Please allow us to edit other players in RttS.
Maybe they dont want you to be able to edit players because about 90% of the people who play RTTS would decrease the OVR of every player ahead of them in the organization in order to get to the BIGS faster....Comment

Re: Please allow us to edit other players in RttS.
Thats well over a few thousand guys. You need generated players to fill out the minor leagues. Plus 7 rounds of the draft every year. How many drafts are you okay with having unique guys before or restarts with the same faces?Comment

Re: Please allow us to edit other players in RttS.
Is this from the PS3 RTTS save I converted to 15 for you? The real-turned-generic guys' appearance is random, if you import your RTTS again he'll look different. If you want, I could convert your PS3 file again and have him look different. You'll lose whatever progress you had made since you started though.

Re: Please allow us to edit other players in RttS.
The leaderboards are already pointless, filled with guys who hit 1,500 homers and bat .450 lifetime. It's already devoid of meaning so who really cares if some people want to play like that? I certainly know I wouldn't be abusing the ability, and how somebody else plays their game doesn't affect me in the slightest.
Even if the devs really don't want people doing that, they could at least allow us to edit their appearances/names/accessories/batting stances/etc. and leave the ratings off-limits.
If you do 1,000 faces I think you'll stop caring if you see 2 or 3 guys who look alike, especially if they can vary up their hairstyles or facial hair (and make sure to write a very clear line of code eliminating blonde hair on dark skinned guys lol)
Those of us who use OSFM will start seeing repeats a lot less quickly because instead of the generics filling out the minors we won't see them until the rookie classes start coming in.Comment

Re: Please allow us to edit other players in RttS.
Ha!
This thread reminds me of that thread from a couple years ago where the guy posted a comprehensive list of honest-to-God actually generated player names.
The one that I remember most was "Ashley Simpson." LOL!
Let's see if I can dig that up.Comment

Re: Please allow us to edit other players in RttS.
I don't think ratings should be editable because that affects the integrity of the game and could lead to side effects, but I do think all appearances and names should be editable. That doesn't hurt anything in the mode.

Re: Please allow us to edit other players in RttS.
Ignoring the "integrity of the game" part considering they already let you buy stubs and become a 99 from day 1 (or earn stubs on the marketplace selling cards, whatever method you choose), I can see situations where it would be beneficial to be able to edit player ratings in a RTTS, especially with the carry-over saves.
Imagine you're like 5 years into your RTTS, and in real life a really great breakout player has emerged on some team, but in your save file he's rated a 62 overall. Would it break the integrity of the game to be able to edit his ratings during one offseason so that he's more like the real life version of himself?
Here's another one: In my save file, Mike Trout's ratings declined almost immediately. I'm through 6 seasons now, and by year 3 he was under a 90. Last I checked he had dropped to an 81 overall at age 27. I'd love to be able to have overrode the bad progression/regression logic and kept him at his elite level at least until his 30's, but I can't.
I don't see why the "integrity of the game" should matter for an offline single player mode anyway. You're not playing against anybody else. Even though I would never want to pull some BS like lower everybody else's ratings, if somebody else wants to do that in their own offline single player game mode, why does that affect me or why should I care?Comment
