Re: Stealing Bases?
If you are really talented, you can use the manual stealing feature by holding L2 and releasing when you know the pitcher is going home with it. That will get you a good jump if you are good at it.
Otherwise, yeah, you just need a good base stealer and a good leadoff. A good way to grab an extra step on your leadoff is to hit L1 one last time once the pitcher looks home and then takeoff.
The running game is an underappreciated aspect of The Show. The opposing pitcher is changing up his looks, just like real pitchers do. You can take advantage of him if he is working in a pattern, and you can definitely hurt him if he is making a big pitch and he never even looks over. -
Re: Stealing Bases?
Best thing i've found was watch the catchers animation. last year was pretty easy as they didnt seem to have that many catcher animations and as soon as you see the catcher move bolt for the next base. This year however I've noticed catchers have multiple different animations (Not to sure if I missed this on last years) but they seem to change up quite frequently. The animation and pitch speeds change alot. Some you'll have a the catcher snap into position and the pitcher rips one right too him. Others you'll notice the catcher taking his sweet time it looks like to get to position and the pitcher is slow on the draw (best time to steal). but they change it up variously. I made a SS with 90 speed and theres been times where ill see the catcher slowing moving into position and with no lead off steal 3rd base (Have done twice now) granted this is all in RTTS and im only in Double-A now.Comment

Re: Stealing Bases?
You don't have to hold l2 at all actually, just press it and let go, he'll go on first movement of pitcher. It makes it very easy. I've even done that without taking a lead with l1 with fast guys and made it in easily.1458, not counting playoffs, that's the number of games in a row I haven't missed! Go Yanks!Comment

Re: Stealing Bases?
I didn't realize you could manually jump. I've been pretty successful stealing in my twins franchise. Half the time I don't even get an extra step, I just follow the pitchers tendencies and run when I expect breaking balls.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Stealing Bases?
In RTTS I hold R1 to lean into my lead, the take off at first movement of the pitchers foot.
The pitcher WILL NOT throw over to first if you don't extend your lead. But if you want to, make sure to hold the L stick Left to dive back should he throw over. Get a good idea for his movements but always be prepared to get back.
If you simply hold R1 you won't extend your lead but you will lean towards second (or third obviously). That has helped me get a good jump without fear of being picked off.
It's almost too easy once you get the hang of it because you know the pitcher won't throw over. As long as you get a good, early jump and make a good slide you're going to get the base. Unless you have a really slow runnerComment

Re: Stealing Bases?
As AZBirdGang said, I watch the catcher. Last year it was easy to watch the first movement of the catcher and then take off. This year also, to make it difficult is that they have the slide step of the pitcher in there. With the slidestep, the ball get s to the catcher faster.
Just starting off my speed guy i'm about 50% in SBs. Still learning when its best to make the jump.Make #FranchiseNation great again!
This thing called Twitter I do sometimes
What's your thoughts? It's a game.

Re: Stealing Bases?
Obviously if your hitting and running you can just have the runner do it themselves, but with a straight steal attempt when you arent swinging at all, you can get your own jumpComment
